My biography will be very limited for now.   Here , I can express myself in poetic form but in real life I much rather prefer to be far less forward  I am a 60 year old American citizen , born and raised in the glorious South! A heritage that I am very proud of and thank God for as it is a blessing indeed ~

Currently married to my beautiful young wife(Riza) a lovely filipina  lady and we have a fantastic 7 year old son, Justin ~

I have truly lived a very wild life as a younger man but now find myself finally very happily settled down for the duration of my life~

I decided to rest here and express myself with hopes that it may in some way help others, for I see here a very diverse  and fine gathering of poets, artists, and caring folks~

Quickly finding friends here that amaze me with such great talent~~

I invite any and all to comment on my writes and send me soup mail to discuss

whatever seems important to them ~

Hi Robert again thanks for such an intriguing blog. Regards to Homer, the fact that unlike us all today. I do wonder from where, did his inspiration come from, the inner most thoughts that he wrote, in a language where today it is translated for us all to enjoy. Yes i see the background of his era, but its the imagery transferred from his own point of view, the intelligences, the fore sight, so much of which was lost till centuries later that intrigues me.

Thank you my friend. My thought is we , we of modern times so oft fail to realize that a thousand years ago lived men that had brains, men that saw more of life, nature and this dark world than we are exposed to -as we in our modern comforts and self-centered ways - are blinded to so very much. Homer was truly a genius and indeed a magnificent and dedicated writer. Which is to -our- blessings today. God bless..

Rob my friend, Time is the one thing we so oft cry to have more of. And it is man's curse in a way. Certainly so often seems a curse to we poets as we want more of it to be able to compose the verses we are born to write. Such that as poetry's rich history reveals to be the great gift, the rich blessing given unto posterity- to we weak and most fragile creatures. God bless.

Loved both your poems, the first being my favorite of the two. I wish I had more time to read Greek and Viking mythology, so your blogs serve as another option.

previous comment continued, comment continued, -"" I crossed the ancient seas, willing soul. * Ashore, walked through the trees, beauty my goal.* Under a golden and welcoming sun. * Finding my past sins simply could not be undone.* I wept unto the ever vigilant winds.* Recalling lost love and sorrows life sends. * As night fell, still day's flowers sweetly smell.* I was acutely aware, under Nature's spell. *I the fallen, again learned how to rise. * See the heavens , the treasure of starlit skies. * Yet again I felt the presence of him.* Woke to beauty, vanquished all once so grim. *Dawn came, again sun its golden light gifted. *I went home, unblinded, soul uplifted. Thank you my friend. The first was born of a past dream. An enchantment with the fires within this old poet's blood. While the second is an expression of hope, of future and the way we may achieve victory in life, in love and in our earthen path by **remembering** those billions that have lived, gave so much to civilization and perished upon this little spinning blue marble. A special insight given me by my 50+ years of studying history and poetry!

I was very unfortunate that in my youth a so many of my poems were stolen and burned. A great many were of them based upon Greek, and Viking mythology. As well as Native American lore. Now maybe I can replace them with a few composed in my old age.

Thank you my friend. I have a great fondness for the use of archaic language in poetry-- I always have had. Neve bothers me that some find it unsavory or even annoying. If one uses such to emphasis the tale, the depths , the authenticity it serves its purpose quite soundly and also so truly beautifully. God bless..

An enjoyable and informative read, Greek mythology certainly inspired me to write a recent poem, Chimera, where Bellerephon on Pegasus slayed the beast. Hope you're well Robert. Tom

Thank you my friend. You wonderful poem, Chimera was indeed a truly great new poem - one that speaks so very well of your talents and inspiration found in the great mythological tale. As such has so inspired its millions and millions of avid readers and poets for centuries! God bless....

Robert, I enjoyed reading this blog with all of your information. I always thought that Homer used poetic license to embellish his imagery making it more colorful, but then what poet doesn't do that. I love your two poems. I actually got chills reading the second one "The Way of Victory". I hope you have it posted with your poems. It is deserving of the highest accolades in my humble opinion. You are a marvel my friend! Thank you very much for this post. Love and Blessings, Connie xx00

Thank you my friend. Homer to me represents everything a true writer- true poet should be. And his historic creations are indeed a treasure trove of inspiration to many poets-- even those of this scientific , modern and busy world that we inhabit now. Truly a great deal can be learned from studying and being so inspired by reading Homer's splendid works! Yes thank you I do plan on posting both poems on my home page here soon. I know in the past with other blogs, I forget to do so. God bless.

Robert, cold & weary overcast Sunday here in Minnesota...spent the weekend foraging wild ramps tilted deep in neighboring Wisconsin Bluffs alongside the miles-wide section of Ole Miss called Lake Pepin (discovered the mother-lode!) then...such a comfortable delight to chilax & saunter thru your well laid out thesis & charging poetry! Thanks so much!
