Poetry Soup’s Andrea Dietrich will be attending the Arizona International Film Festival’s April 15 screening of “Six Days of Sistine,” a movie that features 17 of her original poems. The romantic film by director Richard Perry will also be shown at several other festivals in the U.S. and abroad.

Two years ago Perry approached Andrea after reading "Cinder Girl" at Poetry Soup and she granted him permission to use it as a centerpiece for the new film. She also provided Perry with 16 additional poems that relate to themes in the movie.

This is an exciting time for Andrea, who said, “I am not at liberty to disclose the plot, but I had to read the script and approve it.” A short synopsis of the movie can be found at the website: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7710360/.

Andrea was delighted to learn actor Jamie Campbell Bower and actress Elarica Johnson had been selected for the film’s leading roles. “The most exciting thing to me,” said Andrea, “is that MY WORDS are heard coming from the mouths of famous actors! Each poem represents the actors' thoughts because the plot entails little actual dialogue.”

Andrea is very thankful to Poetry Soup Admin for giving her a win in their 2010 International Poetry Contest. “I was able to get 'Cinder Girl' seen by many, many people. Some made youtube videos of it and Richard Perry was drawn by it to approach me for his movie.”

Andrea believes all Soup poets should value the exposure this website gives to their work. “There are people out there who are sometimes looking for poetry to match up with a project they are doing. I have happened upon power points using my poetry to teach about metaphors, etc. I was asked by a musician to use a poem for a melody he created and by another man who did a very short video he entered in a film festival several years ago based on one of my poems.” Several of Andrea’s friends have told her how strangers approached them asking to use their poetry from seeing it at Poetry Soup.

Director Richard Perry has already received a Silver Award for Best Director at the Virgin Spring Cine Festival in India for his movie “Six Days of Sistine,” which also nabbed a Bronze Award for Experimental film at the same festival. At the Olympus Film Festival in Los Angeles, the movie won Best Experimental Film and Jamie Campbell Bower won a Best Actor award. At the Calcutta Film Fest in India, “Six Days of Sistine” received an award for Best Experimental Film Outstanding Achievement.

The movie is also being featured this year in the following upcoming film festivals:

Arizona Film Festival –April 2019

Portugal Film Festival – May 2019

New Hope Film Festival (Philadelphia) – July 2019

Olympus Film Festival (Los Angeles) -July 2019 or next winter

New Vision Film Festival (Amsterdam) – September 2019

Carolyn, I am so pleased with the write-up you did on me. You were so thoughtful to suggest it, and how wonderful to have such a good friend with your journalist talents! Thanks, everybody here who offered me their congratulations. I want to visit all of you today at one of your poems before I get going this weekend! I am not sure how "globally" successful this movie will be. If it is not "sold," I do not profit monetarily from it, but I am hopeful for any exposure it gives me. My sister is driving a thousand miles from Arkansas to meet & drive me from the tiny Mesa airport down to Tucsan. I am so lucky to have such a supportive sister in my life, and friends like you all!!
