Notes About The Poem

When

Dreams

Become

Nightmares

When Dreams Become Nightmares

The news brought heartache; her dreams were dashed
In a sensuous, ebony gown, she had waited for her man
Till her soldier met his fate in Afghanistan
Her loss now lives on where nightmares are stashed

Very creative write, methinks... (Truth be told, I don't know how you did it. That picture did absolutely nothing for me! lol). Good one, Carolyn! :) gw

Couldn't visit family in NJ this summer, Charlie, and my cousin's wedding there was postponed. I guess we're all doing what we must to survive. It's great to hear from you!

This is such a good poem. Sadly so true for so many. Yes, tragedy plays out in nightmares as well. Very well done Carolyn :)

How horrible to have these nightmares Carolyn, expecting your man to come home but finding out he had met his fate in Afghanistan. Very sad but such excellent imagery. Well penned my friend Jennifer

very well interpreted. The picture can denote anguish as well as anxiety. Hope you had a great day. I had fun with Hyrum staying over. We noticed city pool is open and I hope to take the granddaughers there next week!

Hearing that Russia is offering a bounty on our soldiers is so disconcerting, but I'm not surprised the president has taken no action. Thanks for reading, Rico.

This is so descriptive of the agony of loss and heartache, 'where nightmares are stashed' - so evocative -

So tragic Carolyn, a story we hear often, dreams becoming nightmares. Good luck in the contest Tom
