Notes About The Poem

Carpe

Diem

Carpe Diem

Events that live in infamy
Some life-changing, others life-ending

Hiroshima, the World Trade Center,
areas struck by tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes

Life that remains will never be the same
Survivors are plagued by emotions of loss and grief

Consider couples who fought over breakfast
Or parents whose last words were reprimands

A king’s ransom might be offered
For the opportunity we still have

Live without regret
Part with tender words

Express feelings every day
Love alone lives on past tragedy

I Love this poem Carolyn and your words are so true we always point to our wedding ring as we wave goodbye it is either an 'I Love you' or, 'I'm sorry. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

This poem holds such truth Carolyn. My children always end calls to me by saying I love you, which I return. It is so important to express feelings of love to family and friends. A wonderful entry for the contest Carolyn! xxoo

Yes, I always told my parents (and still tell other family members) how much I love them each time we talk. No regrets this way. Thanks for reading! Hugs, Carolyn

Absolutely beautiful and true Carolyn. We do have so many blessings that a lot of us don't realize until we take the time to look. Your poem is a winner in my eyes.I'm not sure it could be said any better...time is short, life is short, make the best of everyday.
