The lighthouse in St. Augustine, FL, the United States' oldest city, is said to be haunted.  The image below was submitted as proof.  You decide...

Ghostly presence seen nightly
When lighthouse illumes brightly
Fishermen claim to see her
Confounded old tars concur

Her lover swallowed at sea
by fierce waves, old tars agree
Lighthouse beam, sailors concur
Was gone, not even a blur

Narrative poetry definitely suits this form, Carolyn. A ghostly presence certainly helps to bring more tourists to the area...and the story itself is one that begs for acceptance! ~ Love & Hugs // paul

I've heard of this lighthouse having been born and raised in Florida. I figure she probably loved him very much and is still waiting for his return like she promised. Great stuff here as usual. God Bless, JB

Carolyn, I love this poem. Unfortunately I had to place it at the bottom because the first words of the second stanza had to start with the last words of the first stanza. So sorry.. but all in all a wonderful poem. Hugs Charlie

Yes, the photo came from the St. Augustine Historical Society. The ghosts of two young children are also said to haunt the old lighthouse. Their father hooked up a zip-line for them and it broke. Thanks for stopping by, Jack.

What a coincidence Carolyn, I have just before commenting on this poem. commented on one of Connies poems about a lighthouse - how are you - i think if I remember correctly you were working on your novel. Miss you. Poetry hugs, Jennifer.

Interesting work. I don't know. It could be anything with a plain explanation. Reads like a good contender for the contest. Way to go. Thanks for dropping by. Sara

I always wonder about such pictures and videos I see on tv about hauntings. I wonder if they doctor the findings but at the same time, I want to believe there are ghosts . It makes life interesting and gives us proof of otherworldniness existing. You did FANTASTIC with this challenge, Carolyn.

Just a bit of mystery. Ghosts of two children are thought by some to haunt the same lighthouse. Thanks for reading, Andrea.

If the fishermen agree and so do the sailors..it must be true! A haunted lighthouse for sure! Well written, Carolyn.
