Pluviophile

I am not a rain dog With my tail between my legs Dying to run home in haste Away from showers that gradually increase And then come pounding heavily down Like sheets of splintered pearly glass I am not a loner Who leads a wasted life On doorsteps sharing aching pain With others who live rough Deprived of warmth and comfort I am a lover I inhale the smell Enjoy the caressing feel Of seductive teasing raindrops They fall around With sweetest sound Passionate the call It echoes I hear water ---------------------------- 16th October, 2014 Contest: "I do not know" Sponsor: Andrea Dietrich Placed: 4th

What lovely sentiments you have ... the rain can be quite rejuvenating, and it looks as though you soak it right up. Form-wise it looks kinda like a diminished hexaverse but with words instead of syllables.

I love the rain Timothy, but I don't like getting caught in it when the wind is extra strong! Last autumn it rained unexpectedly while I was in the calm sea, swimming...felt delightful:) (good thing my wife was sitting on the rocks and quickly put my clothes in the car!). ~ Yes, this form is based on diminishing words, not syllables... // paul

I love your poem my dear friend Paul. I am a lover of sunshine but I like rain, too. I'm also pluviophile, i think.;) When I'm bored & free from school and heavy rain comes here earlier in a day, I usually go out biking until I'm drenched, then go for shower:) Never got fever. ;))I love your poem very much. It goes to my fave. Thanks a lot for sharing. Thanks also for your precious time reading my poem. Good luck in the contest. Have a blessed day! love lots and big hugs, Leonora

Thank you my friend Leonora, both for stopping by to read and comment on my poems and also for the encouragement you relay through your words. I can well imagine you riding your bike, perhaps while singing "raindrops are falling on my head"! Sharing poetry with others is a gift...we are lucky to be able to make good use of it. Thank you for the fav...much appreciated. hugs // paul

I am a Pluviophile like you. I never suffer from colds even if I am fully drenched in rain. Rain loves me in return of my love. Nature is so generous. love.)))) rajat

Hi Rajat....as you say, nature is so generous, but not everybody realizes that. Here in Malta we have no rivers and lakes, so rain water is very important to us. At present we are at the start of the rain season, but so far we've had little rain. // paul

One who dances in the rain, I see... good to know! Love the spirit and optimism in this piece... so full of life. Not sure your musical tastes, but you might look up that country song Rain is A Good Thing seeing how your a pluviophile :)

You read my poem well, my friend. I like most types of music, and that includes country music. I looked up the song as suggested, enjoyed it and am still humming: "rain washes worries down the drain". Thank you Timothy! // paul

Dear Paul, From what I've learned, you are certainly not one to run from trouble like a coward or to lead a wasted life. Yes, you are a lover who appreciates the best life has to offer. This poem goes to my favorites. It's remarkable, Paul. You don't need luck to score a success with this poem. Love, Carolyn

Oh thank you for the lovely comments and the fav, Carolyn! No, I would not run off from trouble, but I would not go looking for it either:) As to leading a wasted life....I can't cope with all the things I get roped in to do! Take care....love and hugs ..... paul

Therefore one can only assume you are a pluviophile. I believe this will do very well in Andrea's challenge. It is creative, clear and sings. All vital to good poetry.

Thank you Liam. I was brought up to like the rain, especially since in Malta we depend a lot on it. I grew up with my grandparents who had a farm and there I spent unforgettable and lovely days; rain and weather were part of the daily talk. cu my friend. // paul

Hi Charm.....rain smells lovely, especially the first rain in September. Last time I was caught in the rain while I was swimming....I came out of the sea and stood there relishing the rain water showering me! Felt great! // paul
