Missing

Chris

I reminisce, I miss My beloved friend Chris If only just once more We could stroll ‘round the block On evenings beneath starry skies Chris sang, “Strangers in the Night” But we were far from strangers For 18 years we were like siblings Inseparable Traveling Laughing Sharing a love for football Working side by side Broadcasting state news Chris drove me to the doctor When I was afraid to go Then stayed in my guest room During his two bouts with cancer Dad wanted me to find love again “Why can’t you find someone like Chris?” he asked But I’d already found him Platonic, but strong, was our love Now on lonely evenings I search my heart for memories So dear was our time together Sixteen years later, I still can’t believe he’s gone I picture him with health and humor Sharing endless conversations To this day My beloved friend Chris I reminisce, I miss *March 22 2021. For James Edward Lee’s “I Reminisce, I Miss” contest

A twin soul for certain Carolyn. I have someone very dear to me who passed away 47 years ago. He is with me in thought every day. I believe your friend will be waiting with open arms for you when you pass into the next realm. This is a lovely offering for the contest. Congratulations on your win! Blessings xxoo

Carolyn! Well written and touching. I had a female friend who was like a sister. We were way different but the closest friend I had. Cancer took her out of my Life. Years later, I still miss Pam! Can relate well to your verses. Hugs, Panagiota (Pangie) xx

WoW! Carolyn, What a moving and heartfelt poem about a “ special” friendship. To find a special friend like Chris is such a blessing for however long we are in their company. This is so fitting for the contest theme. Best wishes in the contest. Have a great day:-) Alexis

WoW! A friend and a brother. It's seldom we find a kindred spirit like that. When we lose that friend there is a hole in our life and in our heart. I feel for you my friend. I had a friend like that too. A friend and a sister. My friend Alice . Cancer took her too. This is a fine tribute to someone you truly loved. God Bless my friend, JB

What a wonderful tribute to a real friend. I think many will relate to this poem, Carolyn, because so many of us have lost dear friends. I recently lost my dear 98-year-old friend Dave, with whom I shared Wednesday lunch the past twenty years! We will always miss them...until someday, I think, we will be reunited in spirit.

You two have been blessed with such an adorable friendship. Alas, sad that you lost your friend. May you find comfort in those memories you so eloquently recalled in this poem, Carolyn. And your poem is a definite win in my books.

Yes, and as we grow older our friends disappear at a more rapid rate. I cherish memories of Chris. Thanks for reading!
