A

Sneeze

to

Spring

It started with a sniffle one March morn’ When on my car that telltale film appeared And I knew well this coat it had not worn For overnight the gleam had disappeared The grasses and the grains had sprung to life A tease from leprechauns I do suspect So thick this film I’d need a carving knife To find that pristine wax now olive flecked The wheezing, sneezing found its way to me As in spring air the pollen count raged strong Though I’d professed to be allergy free Friends had predicted this might come along A strong immune will carry just so far For late in life hay fever can be born And not again will I wax my white car Till fall’s first frost has kissed summer’s last corn

Hi Carolyn, have not seen you around and really miss your comments and making them! I suffer with hayfever almost constantly, it is obviously more rife at the change of every season, but has a lot has to do with pollution also. A delightful poem Carolyn and so true, I think hay-fever has become a world wide complaint! Blessings, Jennifer.

I have a mild case of the sniffles from the pollen, but some people suffer terribly, Jennifer. I hope to be back on the Soup soon! Hugs, Carolyn

I do not suffer with hay fever, but I felt your pain. Or your wheezing and sneezing, I should say. A very descriptive, clever poem. Congratulations, Carolyn

You made me laugh and wheeze and sneeze with you. The yellow dust is like hands on the clock for me to get out the Singular, and inhalers. Argh! Love spring but just want to breath. This was so fun and so true. Congratulations.

When young I suffered not such allergies now that I am old I do. Your verses so wondrously crafted are a delight and a great description of one of Spring's hazards. A gem and a great fav, too.

Your poem is a work of delightful creativity, Carolyn. All seasons, even the ones we love most, visit with unwanted 'gifts'. Luckily I don't suffer from such allergies, though the rest of my family all do! Hope you are keeping well. Hugs // paul
