ABOUT ME : Late babyboomer Canadian born in the beautiful Eastern Townships of Quebec, and raised in Northern Ontario. Fell in love with Ottawa where I received my B.A. with a major in french literature. Still living in Ottawa, I'm finding out that oncoming golden years offer a very rich perspective on life and beauty.

The themes of my poetry are found in everyday life. I write mostly free verse but I'm also a member of Haiku Canada and have had haiku published in various anthologies.

Dear PS family,

On Monday, November 16^th my husband Dennis passed away peacefully at home lovingly surrounded by family.

Dennis had a lust for life and did not let go without a fight. He is now in a better place ~ Everything happened as best it could. Quick and painless.

The last two weeks have been surreal in so many ways. I’m going to hibernate through the winter months in order to process the shock of my loss.

Life is short and it’s ever so precious.

The special friendships I have made here at PoetrySoup mean a lot to me ~

Sometimes love is not enough

He loved his grandpa with all his heart

All the hugs in the world

Could not heal him

How we dreaded the time when

Memories would be all that’s left

We had the memorial service this afternoon by the river. It was a lovely location, windy and cold but the sun came out in the end. You had to be bundled well for sure. I feel surprisingly calm tonight. Probably because it went really well. It was wonderful that we were able to hook up my mother and many invitees to participate by zoom. Hooray for technology when it works. It was a wonderful tribute and sendoff. I opened it up by reading a little speech I had written. Dennis' daughter spoke. We had a reader read a list of all the wishes of condolences that had come in. Now I have the urn at home right where it belongs. Together again.

I am so truly sorry, Line, and my heart aches for you ... may he be carried tenderly on angels' wings to the next adventure, and may the passing of time bring understanding and peace. I have learned to embrace grief over the last couple of years, (having lost my father, a best friend, mother-in-law, cousin - all at the end of October), and see it as it truly is - a very important part of love ... a payment, yes, but also the very proof of how deeply we loved. I no longer fear it as I did, but it has not made it any easier. Sending you many poetic hugs of empathy and understanding, and a shoulder, should you ever need it. :-( <3
