My Health Update - Sally Eslinger's Blog

Dear family, for that is what it feels like you are!  
My poetry isthe journal,ing of my life, so, next to God, you see it  all
Almost as it happens.  My brotherand sister poets, I see your lives too, sending blessings, good vibes, hugs, AND prayers when needed. I emphatically believe in the power of prayer.  I am deeply thankful for all your prayers for me.   
PSine 5/29/23, i have had both shoulders replaced without any problem.  I’ve also had 4 general anesthesia procedures for vascular reasons on my right leg, 2 in hospital, 2 in a surgy clinic, including amputation of 2 toes.  There was an ulcer wound on my heel of a fairly large size.  It was discovered about 17 months after snarled nerves in my spine, resulting from fusion surgery caused m    e to be paralyzed waisrpt down    .  (My whole spine, except for very top one vertebrae is titanium,). Physical therapy had helped me back to walking with a walker 40’ by 10/23/21 when the heel ulcer was discovered and I was ordered off my feet completely til it healed.  They said that would probly be healed in March ‘22, but is only now nearly OK to let me out of bed,..
Bic lighter being lut under my foor ranging every few seconds to minutes.  With med, sleep helKs of pain like a HOWEVER, the 4 vascular operations have been intense trials for my body, mind and soul.  I’ve noted this in many poems, from. “What she said,” “ Dance of the butterfly,” etc., to todays , “AcPleevto Thee.”  
     My faith, Christ within and beside me, my husband and pups,  2 friends here, all of you dear ones here at Poetry Soup, and my drawing are what has kept me chin up and persevering!  I deeply thank you.  My pain is severe.  I go to a pain clinic once a month.i am on meds every 6 hours that help for the middle 3 of those.  I can get out of bed only to use the bedside commode.  Talk about cabin fever!  I’ve been in bed  nearly 21 months, surrounded by my ipad, headphones, pens, markers, 7 sketchbooks, poetry books, ebroidery projects and containers of floss, an essel, drinks, 2 bags of pretzels. and my new “color the illustrated Bible.”  
     My pain, ffrom the phantom of taken toes to the open, live infection now on the outside of my left foot, send shocks, like a bic lighter underfoot every few secs to.minutes.  Alarming.  Horrendous.  And on Monday the surgeon told us tge actuve area js now infected!    This next Tues. there is a new specialist.  We fully expact him to hospitalize me for IV anti-biotics and pain med.  Hatr the idea but it may be the best course.
