Notes About The Poem

Appreciate Me

You stand beneath my boughs Never hearing my silent prayers For someone to understand I’m more than simply a friend I bring life to those who listen For the kindness in my whispers I breathe, I bleed, I plead In a prayer sighed through my leaves You stare up through my branches Look for the perfect time To take me down and make me into Something built or designed A house, a cabinet, a page Where you fill me with different things Furniture, odds and ends, words Sparks of life to enlighten With me, you even build fires You listen to the breath of the wind As it sends its howling thorough my limbs Never noticing that I can comprehend The joy of the rain as it sprinkles life The light of the sun as it shines bright The shadow of the moon as it illuminates My life is more than a sparkle It shines across the earth to ignite A passion that is crisp and alive Thriving with hope for the souls Who know that I am prosperous As I carry life through the heart of my wood Kissing every living thing with my Gift of pure air that fills the world With gratitude for me, a ordinary tree

Trees are living entities...maybe one day they will uproot and walk away...We must stop destroying our planet...I like the way you personalized it.

Trees are so spiritual, they are the caretakers of the Earth in so many ways, I love you line 'As I carry life through the heart of my wood' - every ordinary tree is beautiful and special, as is your lovely poem!
