As Creativity and Beauty Flee

As Creativity and Beauty Flee With every sense alerted — keen, We’ll take turns to champion The Watch… To discover where Creativity and Beauty Flee — when necessary — For shelter from poor intentions or injury, To be shielded and camouflaged — hidden. We’ll discern clues to follow their flights — Like hints seen in patterns of wing-prints left across the sky… By looking closely — Listening…We’ll scan Seas and mountainsides — where owls hoot, scaring frogs to dive away from danger into rippling waters… As we wait to catch sight of the places Where Creativity and Beauty disappear, We languish, needing their inspiration near. We filled the winds calling out chapters of book of Genesis verses, But nothing stirring returned. We tired in our waiting as All of life came to feel inert, Except for Time, which kept melting Empty hours into lost days. Blessedly, we did catch onto Dreams again While nodding off often During our watching…And with them, visions Rose anew with eager energy and passion To write, teach, compose, paint, parent, And reverently love What we have and know That neither evades nor flees ~ While Creativity and Beauty still tower Where they always have been: Awaiting us within The hush and hold of Divine Grace… ————————————————————————— art & poetry (c) sally young eslinger 10/23-29/2023 Thanks be to God—

Vijay, your comment is most humbling, esp as greatly respect where U’re coming from! Ur poetics & poetry R circumspect, learned & generous. U always consider the poet behind the poem w/what,how the poem speaks. That generosity + know- ledge is notable, a help to me 4 sure! Big thanks! sally

Your imagery was excellent, Sal, and I felt the emotion in many of the verses. You always write from your loving heart, and it is easy to see your sincerity, my friend. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us through your poetry. Hugs, Bill

How poetic is this poem? You really have a way with words dear Sally, talented soul you are. I felt like as i read these lines i saw the mountainsides, seas and beautiful skies! Amazing how one can show so much through their words for the readers, and the flow of this is beyond impeccable. I really felt and resonated with the lines “ Except for Time, which kept melting Empty hours into lost days.“ so true! And profound! And that ending! Above all creativity and beauty is faith and Gods creation

Hi, Empress, dear one! 1st we artists must move into that other dimension within the creative process. 2nd we consider our aimreality, memory, satire, humor, painting, story, etc. Here i wanted to tell of thos + tell how i feel humanity sometimes will not desire beauty or will but falls shortof it & God as The Creator carries the definitions & Location of Art.I thank you!

Hi Paula! Yes, love to write, but also Love reading poetry is how i started as a teen. Honestly, lately i’d like a short break from writing. My probably biggest joy is drawing, which i find more creatively forgiving. The poem i have above took 2 days to pen & edit. I need a nap, write on, Paula…………..

A very creative poem Sally.. For me its a writer or a poet looking for inspiration... we write about what we see and what we feel.. but sometimes we can find it a struggle, especially if someone has writers block.. but that is a term I do not agree with... we only think we have a block, because what we write we deem not good enough.. there is so much inspirations around us.... your poem is a great take on the subject..

Actually, this poem began while i was painting what kept seeming like a Fantasy Forest w/trails to #’s of hiding places. What’s going on in this forest? I asked myself. The poem “illustrates” the painting! Can’t manage putting a photo up ! I’ll try put them on fb soup for u to see… no block going on! xox
