2am, An Ode To Night

As bright as the light
so charming is such flare,
I also love the morning
before the dawn, basking
in the sun of dark before
daybreak's arising affair –

then I feel closest to spirit

comfortably tucked

free from the turmoil
of a laboring world,
at times seeming in
competition with a
Universe~ man's better
nature, instinctively driven
afar

This is when I do my art
write my poetry, inviting angels
dear to disturb me, theirs a comforting
pinch
and nuzzle

dark is not evil
and night is not to fear
for God is always near
even in those far-off wells
between the stars –

The wee hours of the night just before daybreak is a beautiful time. It is a time of quiet when the world sleeps tucked away from all din and bustle of the day. It is the best time to pursue the art of poetry. Darkness has definitely its own beauty. Agree with all the thoughts you shared in this beautiful verse. Wish a Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Thank you, Valsa; I love your beautifully poetic comment. And thank you for coming to the place where I am most comfortable and is nearest to my heart. This is the poetry I love most, that best describes where my spirit is at peace and lovingly resides. Have a beautiful Christmas my friend. Blessings to you and yours.

Thank you, Andrea; ready as I will ever be. Will be small gathering -- a lot of prayer and singing~ the neighbors will think we are many more...Ila and I are not known for being quiet. She plays piano and I play drums~ both of us singing off key. Santa will have no trouble finding us. Blessings my friend.

Joe! Again you’ve carried me to exclaiming! You’ve here astutely expressed the nature of dawn And night. For me, the last line is an epiphany! So much so, this is a Fave, also because it takes the whole to make this last line. Lovely! Bravo! sally

l whole heartedly agree Joe, the best time of the day for relaxing and enjoying one's own company are between 2 and 4 in the morning. I often sit outside at this time just to breathe in the serenity and inspiration, that comes with being one on one with our creator. Your poem encompassed all those mornings for me. A delight to read.

The calm and serene vibes of night conjure poetic thoughts--spoken like an artist. Enjoyed your poem, Joe.

Thank you, Vijay; the fact that we can feel the vibs (upset, love perhaps) of the world around, should make people stop and consider the possibility, that thoughts are physical substance. And, so, to guard our thoughts, as if they were bodies capable of healing and harm. Blessings my friend. Greatly pleased by your visit.
