The Poison I Crave

I live in this continuum,
Where I sit, I scroll, I rot.
This blissful poison hypnotizes me in,
An artifice far deadlier than I thought.

It promises me sweet lies,
Feeding on the pith of my mind.
I grow my own nicotine,
A toxin that turns me blind.

Stronger than any drug it seems,
It drags me out of reality.
I escape to the realms of fractured dreams,
Only to suffer their calamity.

I live in this continuum,
Where my soul resigns to the comfort I crave.
In this abyss I dwell,
I have learned to dig up my own grave.

Very creative and thought provoking, we all need time as this to reflect on distractions in life, great to see you writing about it : )

I enjoyed reading your powerful write. I have seen a few people die from the years of nicotine. Only one could stop it. What an ending you have here. Have a blessed day writing away....................

A smoker. I can imagine how difficult it would be to stop. My sister can't lose weight and has been obese all her life. I know people who threw everything away for alcohol or gambling. I hope you can overcome your own brand of poison. I learned to control my eating by counting calories. My TV watching. That's a different story!!

Good rhythm, flow and rhymes. I enjoyed reading. Sometimes I wonder if all of us are not wasting our brain on computer, cell phones, and tv. Thanks for sharing. Sara K
