The Unforgiving Light
There stood a veteran behind the prison wall,
Who looked up to the greatest thing of all.
Begging for mercy to an unforgiving light,
All he remembers is his final flight.
Up in the air,
Without much care,
He heard the voices on the speakers blare,
As the plane stalled, "Be careful up there!"
His plane crashed down without a thought,
And behind the wall, it was caught.
Begging for mercy to an unforgiving light,
All he knows is he must choose right.
To live, or to die,
To hurt, or to fly,
Again, but in the Heaven sky.
There, he could go so high
Being held hostage is hard to bear,
But he, being hopeful, would not despair.
Begging for mercy to an unforgiving light,
All he thinks about is that terrifying night.
Of when his plane came crashing down,
And when his smile became a frown.
And sirens sounded throughout the town,
And blood rushed to his crown.
He coughs up a stream of blood,
As his face falls in the mud.
Begging for mercy to an unforgiving light,
All he notices is that soon, it will be night.
And that night, his heart would fall,
And the angels would begin to call,
"Come with us, from behind the wall,
To the greatest place of all!"
