Stay Duty Bound

Lord, Lord, Lord- what now- what now? What do you want one to do? What now, what now? I wake up- I stand my ground- I hold it together- I am duty-bound. I live within the storm. I am being tossed from side to side. I survive the day and get ready, for tomorrow Get ready for the roller coaster ride- I wake up- I stand my ground- I block out the hollering- the Cursing- the ungodly sounds- I hold my own- I stand tall- I do not fall- down- For I am duty-bound- Lord, Lord, Lord What now, What now? What do you want one to do? What now, What now? My knees are scraped, My bones do ache. My heart is in turmoil, My senses are embroiled- Still, I stand my ground. Lord, God, through Jesus Christ I remain duty-bound- Many of my friends and family fall by the wayside They have given up their ride- Maybe they had no choice, Still- Lord I hear your voice. Saying, “STAND STILL!” Stand strong, hold on- For I am near Stand your ground! In me of all things Stay duty-bound- Lord, Lord, Lord What now? What do you want me to do? What now? I reach out my hands to thee, Lord, let me be- I cry out to thee, Lord let me be. This world is sick, This world is confused, Forgotten all that they learned in grade school- Forgotten how to pray- who is the father- Forgotten how to love one another- I reach out my hands to thee- Lord, let me be, I cry out to thee- Lord, let me be- So much hate So much crime So much disease So much mine, mine, mine- No one takes responsibility seriously. No one takes the blame. Everyone points a finger. Then turn around, to run and hide. No one stands still. No one wants to stay duty-bound- Lord, Lord, Lord What now? What do you want me to do? What now? I know, as you have stated before- just stay, “DUTY- BOUND!”
