Lost Inside

The clouds cried tears of frozen glass;
Slicing at the tender flesh of dreary
defenseless sky; The world sobbed
under a veil of grey; While quietly
humming a tune of hope; From
beneath tortured vocal chords;
Just another day; Lost of
felicity; A map with no
borders; No end
in sight;
He lifted
his leaden head
to find the lock; The
sanctuary doors accepted
his key; He dragged inside
his listless gaze; It pointed
only to his feet and scraped at
the ground; Like the rusty blade
of a dull sickle; The distractions
of the world continued to scream at
him through the walls; Assaulting his
senses with malicious intent; Like razors
across a baby's skin; He knew within this
idyllic box existed a reprieve from malaise;
He just needed a little help to find the source;
Mercilessly it called out to him; Like a dulcet
siren in the smoke of the ocean; Suddenly a
compass renewed he found his lost sense of
direction; Long-forgotten serenity trickled
to his surface; His skin tingled with the
pin-pricks of a thousand needles; Each
injecting lively serum into a gloomy
husk; He began to open doors like
a madman; Drunken by a fever of
passion; He raged through the
barren shelter; Turning left;
Turning right; Was he
climbing out of the
pit; Or just falling
in circles;
