My Health Update 10/1/23

It’s been a slow & painful road since my 4th (5th ?) procedure on 10/18 on the veind /arteries of my right leg.  My Jim knows the med name for it, but I call it “rota-rooter,” (hahaha…yikes) borrowing from the famed plummbing company, because I’m not great with medical procedures, which require anesthesia and surpass 4 syllables in length.  
Am just now getting around to finishing some poems I started, but wasn’t able to finish.  I apologize for not coming by to read all I hoped to.  I made one Very brief visit.  I did alot of “reading” actually, but, like a sick child in bed, I listened to stories on audible (A. conan Doyle, P.G. Wodehouse, Baroness Orczy,  Edith Wharton, James Joyce, & Maurice Leblanc’s Incredible Adventures of Arsene Lupin, Extraordinary Gentleman Thief.  Also found 2 good Brit cozy mystery series.  I don’t watch tv once I turn it on in the a.m. to find out if the world is still out there, so I wear headphones almost 24/7 either on Air-1 radio or Audible books.  
Anyway, I’ve had what I hope was a short vacation from poetry here & from my own stuff.  I had also been drawing a ballerina a day for a while & wasnt up to that until today.  I must say, tho, that I did spend alot of time relaxing in intricate scenes in adult coloring books, such as scenes of urban streets & architecture.  Also, started back into crochet, which I was once very good at, but it’s been 2 decades ago.  
I am thankful every day for PoetrySoup, even when not here, because of the bonds of creativity, mutual respect & inspiration that we share.  I am an American Episcopalian, which is a deeply spiritual, but not a “Shout to the Lord!” bunch, which I am in truth.  I love love the deep love of our Lord that I read of & share openly with so many here!!!  We are poets who FEEL thru the creative process & thru inspiration, something of our eternal, omnipotent, purpose-giving glorious, loving, redeeming, forgiving Lord & King.  Face to face, I know no one here, but God led me to this place 3 years ago, wherevI have shared a deep fellowship, been blessed & given your prayers & support.  I have mourned with you for brother & sister poets who’ve passed on, or with those who’ve had family pass in time past or more recently.  Real hugs are given here…And real tears are shed tho unseen…  
I thank you for your well wishes & prayers.  I carried them with me into surgery & on into recovery.  May God bless you & your loved ones (inc. pets!  We almost lost our old Max last week, see My Pet Poem Max).  May inspiration be with you!  ALL MY HUGS!
My next blog (I hope) will ask What is Poetry?   start thinking about a (somewhat simple) definition.    sally  8--)

Dear Sally, few here, would be this open, courageously so! I can understand commitment to God. And PS is not a church. I am not being facetious. Our relationship to a Higher Power is primary !!Marvelous, you are in listening to so much. I salute you. Glad you are better,you do not owe us,we owe you for your genuineness. I broke my thigh three years ago.Five months it took to relearn to walk. I cannot walk without a walker-nor drive. But, I am alive. I wrote 10 poems a day while in hospital. I commented, too.. Take care of you before PS. We, your friends, understand and bless you! You are a lead star here. Pangie xx

This was a nice blog. Sorry for all you are going through. I am envious of those who get to enjoy good health throughout their lives. We just never know what our trials will be. Get better!

I read your post, Sally, with great empathy. I can imagine the toll 4 procedures would take on you. I had rotator cuff surgery last December...took me almost 6 months to get back to 'normal.' During that time I hardly wrote--I was exhausted physically and emotionally. Anyway, I look forward to reading your poems upon your return. Have a blessed afternoon, Sara
