Let's all try to be kind and supportive to one another!

Good morning,

I have been overwhelmed with losing my Father recently and I often come to this site for support, inspiration and fun.  The atmosphere has been ugly lately and very disappointing at best. Let's all try to be kind, maybe post one postive comment daily on someone's poem(s).  I was always taught that if something seems harsh, or rude, or will hurt someone else it's best to not put it out there by acting on it or posting it!   It may seem trivial but words can hurt worse than stones! I appreciate all of your supportive and kind comments I have received on this site.  I 've enjoyed getting to know some of you more and the inspiration to  keep writing!

I'm not sure how old you are. I lost my Mom when I was 24 and my Dad when I was 44. It was awful to deal with both times. I feel your pain and I'm sorry for your loss.

I know exactly what you mean. I'm almost 50 and the pain still cuts deep. But I'm very thankful I was with them for as long as I was.

I am so sorry for your loss Tania. Here's hoping time will help lessen your grief and your smile returns soon. Also hoping this site continues to bring you comfort and inspiration. These things will pass and thoughts again will turn from hatred to poetry.

It's my prayer that the Lord will continually uphold you and your loved ones. Likewise, thanks for your reminder of our commitment to be kind. God bless you. (I was a new member of PS when my Dad passed away last year; and I can testify that the Lord used the kind words and supportive spirit of friends in this site, which I'm thankful for.)

So sorry for your loss Tania, yes i agree that none of us know what is going on in the lives of others and that is where trolls are causing so much heartache and people are leaving. I agree the atmosphere has been toxic to say the least and having had 3 weeks away it has got no better in fact for me it has got worse. Hopefully soup admin will finally put an end to the drama. But I will never be driven away from the site .Hugs jan xx

Very sorry to hear of your immense loss my friend. Truth is, the problem as it is - seems to be a repeated pattern of abuse, that has occurred over the years-- with the allowing of those responsible to continue to do such reprehensible and cowardly insulting attacks upon innocent unsuspecting members. As Teppo points out- we should also consider this-- " we can never know what the poet is growing through, and should therefore always be respectful." Surely this is a truism- Kindness is a fruit that is best shared.....
