Writing Challenge 'H' Words ~ Sponsor: Constance La France

"It's impossible for those who persecute you to imagine a halo

above your head when what they want to see are horns."

                                                                 ~  quote by poet

Halo

I've never worn a pair of angel wings
There's no glowing halo above my head
but my tears flowed like water from wellsprings
when someone I love was wounded and bled

My heart has been bruised and it's been broken
There's no glowing halo above my head
'cause I've damaged hearts with words I've spoken
and then been sorry for things I have said

I have bared my skin and revealed my soul
There's no glowing halo above my head
I confess that sometimes I lose control
Can't change one thing about the life I've led

I have scars inside that no one shall see
There's no glowing halo above my head
No angelic wings, soft and feathery
I’m simply human, seeking daily bread

Lovely poem Lin! Who has seen a halo above the head of someone on earth, no one has moral perfection - yet to our redeemer we all have worth. God forgives and so must we, forgive yourself, the world and me. Congratulations on your win in Constance’s contest… Belle

No human is worthy of such divinity, Belle. Your spiritual convictions are my own. Thank you for the congratulations. I appreciate you and your kind comments.

Lin, a raw and beautifully expressed emotive poem. None of us wear halo's and should not judge others. We are all human and make mistakes and forgiveness is key. Those who hold grudges wear the horns. A fave for me.

You’re absolutely right, Tania. No one is perfect but some enjoy having a “holier than thou” attitude. I truly appreciate your supportive comments and the fave. Thank you.

Raw honesty! I love it! What I’m thankful for is a God that is so good he loves us despite our horns, our ugly momentous moments. I have too many. His grace and mercy, I live for. His arms I long for. His “well done” as I say what for. He sees a child of God. Lin, your writing is impeccable and touches the heart!

He is a loving God, quick to forgive us as we should forgive others. Your thoughts had my eyes welling with tears, Kim. They touched my heart, too. Thank you for that. Hugs.

You speak the truth, Jo. There was only one perfect human, and he paid the ultimate price for all of us imperfect ones. Thanks for commenting.

Ain’t that the truth Lin, and no human being can judge you, we’re all imperfect creatures, but some believe they are an absolute authority on life, who cares about such monsters, cheers David

No human being should judge another. I don't give a fig about monsters who point at a straw in my eye and overlook the rafter in their own. I think you've labeled them perfectly. Thanks so much for your thoughts, David.
