Bluebird

      a bluebird
 perches on my
     window
           ledge
  and turns to the wind
               smoothing his feathers
his song is pitched and excited
 as a few morning snowflakes
                     fall
                and not a single flower
    blooms in the garden
           for winter
   is knocking . . . .
