Maine is known for balsam fir trees and many beautiful lighthouses. Steamers are steamed clams, needhams are candy made from potatoes and coconut and dipped in chocolate. Aroostook County is known as potato County as most are grown and harvested there. Stephen King is a famous Maine author and has a famous house in Bangor, Maine. Acadia National Park is in Bar Harbor, one the most beautiful places to visit. Maine is famous for lobsters and blueberries. The whoopie pie originated from Maine, it's shaped like a cookie, has two chocolate cake like halves with vanilla cream in the middle. Marjorie Standish has the best recipe for them.
