The world is such an interconnected place today. The speed of communication makes one feel like armegedon is upon us. Perhaps it would help all of us to know there is support from other kind hearts in the world.

Way to go Lainie. Right on. After 9-11, there were black, white, Hispanics working side by side as one. Adversity brings out the best in mankind. Materialism brings out the worst. The class separation is widening and the hope is diminishing. Vince

Chris, I am with you in your thoughts look at the dark ages and the Black Death look how Nature/God the cycle of life controls its own survival. Less people would help and yet no one ever talks anymore of population controll?

I don't feel life on this planet is doomed. I guess I don't believe in the concept of DOOM Jamie. Everything is recycled and life will always go on. Perhaps not for man or for 1 specicies or another BUT we are all STARDUST and if we return to stardust well HEY, the stars are worthy and glorious!

I'm in a hopless phase right now, not feeling too certain about too much, its hard when people who try to do the right thing are engulfed in hardship and people who cheat, lie, steal and manipulate are rewarded. I find glimmers of hope in those that stand true to what they know, but its few and far between. Things that used to restore my hope are no longer viable for me.

the world is moving too fast, lights.. i was told in one of our inter-faith meetings that a day now consists ONLY of 16 hours with some speedier movements of planets ( not scientifically discussed).. but i do feel that sense of urgency, that kind of stress that we can't seem to cope with disasters and global conflicts coming and going like there was no tomorrow... if we can just love and have peaceful co-existence: that's my hope... :) hugggs!

Someone on our local news tonight was explaining how it felt to have a huge tree topple over in a storm this weekend, onto his family home, and destroy half his house. His family was fortunate not to have been hurt. They are displaced until the damage can be repaired. But what impressed me so much...was his comment. He said how minor this incident was in comparison to the suffering going on in Japan and other regions. He was so grateful to have a motel room to shelter him. Each of us can be reminded how fortunate we are, just to have our day filled with routine, we never appreciate each boring little thing, until we lose it. The world is a small place,...people helping people give me hope.

When I see people reaching out to help others like the Japanese Tsunami victims, that gives me hope. I can only hope that today's young people will take better care of our planet than our generation has. They are the hope for the future of life on Earth. Love, Carolyn

Nice blog, Debs. I am kind of an optimistic pessimist. Since I was a child, I have never felt that things would get better in the world; however, i had a strong religious upbringing, and whether I had had it or not, I think my spirit just KNOWS that there is more to all this stuff (being on earth) than just being born and dying. I have always just "known" that there is something more. Many different religions have different theories for what is to come, but to me, just knowing that death is not the end, that is my hope. I believe death takes us to a better place. Without that, what is the use of it all?

USA in yet another ... many nations shattered by war and devastation.. hope for the Future relies solely on the grace of God to His creations luv..
