Gregory Richard Barden Biography

Welcome to my page!

I am a man of many interests - TOO many, I think, lol - and because of that I never gave writing the attention I should have when I was young. I started writing poetry in December of 2016, and joined Poetry Soup at the same time. I am currently working on an R&B/Soul album for a major label, so, as has usually been the case, poetry does not get the time I'd like to give it, (though I plan to change that in the future, and write a book-or-two, a sci-fi novel and an autobiography) ...

I like to incorporate classic styles and phrasing into a modern frame when I write poetry, and try to cover a wide range of genres, but I enjoy the darkly sensual the most, despite its limited audience. I hope you'll give my rather unusual style a chance, read a piece-or-two, and leave a comment, if you'd be so kind. I also hope you'll visit my music web site as well, (at the following address under my moniker "Bahku") - mostly (very) old recordings there, but also a snippet of the first single coming, and more new stuff soon!

Thanks for stopping by my page - blessings!

I was in Australia on the Gold Coast at the time. We were having coffee when we first got up and had the tv on. Like others I thought it was a trailer for a new movie and when it sunk in that this had happened I went into shock. I couldn’t go anywhere for 2 weeks.....had no desire to go anywhere. It wasn’t from fear. The horror of seeing the people jumping rather than being immolated really deeply disturbed me and all the people in the planes last horrific moments as they saw the the building looming up in front of them. I wrote two poems which I have never posted here. Perhaps I may in tribute. SuZ

Greg, I remember that day as well. I was working and my coworker hollered to me to stop what I was doing and come look at the t.v. We both watched horrified and couldn't quite fathom what we were watching. It did give me the creeps when it was found out that the terrorists were so close to home to start with! You wrote a beautiful heartfelt blog. It doesn't seem possible that it has been 18 years, my heart still goes out to all those who lost their lives as well as the brave heroes who lost their lives helping others and the aftermath of it all, and those still suffering today from diseases and grief. We will never forget!

A most thoughtful blog, Greg. So unbelievably sad was that day- we will never forget it. My husband and I were at our fire equipment business that morning, 60 miles North of New York City. We knew so many of the 343 firefighters to whom we supplied helmets, coats, boots, tools, etc., who met their horrible fate that day- one who also lived on our street and others nearby who commuted to the City. We have visited the 911 Museum in NYC twice, and each time, we have lovingly caressed the names of the many we knew- now etched on the steel ledge around the memorial fountain- who we will remember forever. Eighteen years have passed- but it still seems like yesterday. Sandra

This Day, No One Will Ever Forget. Such a tragedy indeed. My heart dropped when I heard the news. The day after, my grandfather died. So many emotions caress my heart, today and tomorrow. I am keeping the families who lost their loved ones, in my thoughts and prayers. ~ Brandy

A friend called and told me to turn on the TV. All my kids were home with me (I home school) and we sat there in shock, watching things unfold. ugh what an awful day. So sad.

thanks for this, Greg. I thought of it just last night when I realized it was Sept. 10 and so today would be our remembrance of that horrible event. but also remembering the brave souls who fought to save others and the tragic victims of this atrocity. I was in my bedroom with the news on and it was very surreal!

I was up at around 03:00hrs (Australia) watching live tv and did not want to believe what I was seeing. My friend and workmate William (New York born) rang me and said, "are you seeing? it is real". the heart breaking images played over and over. Such sadness when i see old movies that show the twin towers and wonder about all the lives touched. The world changed.

I was mowing the lawn that fateful day. At first, like everyone else, I thought an airplane lost control and crashed into one of the towers. When the second plane hit, I just knew we were under a terrorist attack. Words can't begin to describe how I felt at that very moment. Confusion, anger, rage, utter disbelief, the works! I had to go to therapy for two months to help me deal with the earth-shattering aftermath. Horrible anniversary!

I remember, great sadness and immense anger fought an epic battle in my heart. Both are still present and will be as long as I live.. The dark world thrives on violence. And sadly some love to go along with it because they and their black hearts are ruled by the dark lord and do its biddings, IMHO.

Like many I watched the news footage of that horrific day, at first we thought there had been a plane crash but as the story unfolded we were updated with the news that it had been a terrorist attack. As time went on we heard of the heroic attempts by the emergency services to help those trapped in the buildings, sadly many losing their own lives in doing so. We must never give in to these terrorists who preach nothing but hatred. And those that died may they rest in peace and never be forgotten.
