Hoping That It Might Be You

Hoping that it might be you

Verse 1

I've got some troubles in my life...
I'll help with yours, will you, help with mine?
"Cause I need love like everyone...
Will you be here when the day is done?
(day is done)

Verse 2

Seems, like the whole worlds in a mess...
each day gets harder, I confess...
I need someone, to help me through...
I was hoping, that it might be you!
(might be you)

Bridge 1
Try to be.... the person that I need
I'll try to be...the person that you need

Verse 3

There, are some things, I just don't like...
when, somethings wrong, but they say it's right...
So... would you share my point of view?
Or... would it, just be...too much for you?
(too much for you)

Verse 4

I've lived, a full life, made for one...
I've seen a lot, and, I've had my fun...
but now, I'm ready for, a life for two
I hope you feel...the way I do!
(the way I do)

Bridge 1
Try to be.... the person that I need
I'll try to be...the person that you need

Bridge 2

Will you be here when the day is done?
Will you share with me the setting sun?
Will you be here when the day is done?
Will you share with me the setting sun?

Verse 5

What would you do, when I'm old and grey?
Would you leave me here, or would you stay?
I'll need someone to help me through...
I was hoping that, it might be you
(might be you)

Bridge 1

Try to be.... the person that I need
I'll try to be...the person that you need

Finale

I'll need someone to help me through...
I was hoping that it might be you
Yeah, I'll need someone to help me through...
I was, hoping that it might be you

(hoping that it might be you)
(hoping that it might be you)
(hoping that it might be you)

repeat and fade

This is very very beautiful. This could be written by Cyrano de Bergerac. You're channeling someone mister, maybe you're channeling you. :) Love to hear the music with this.

... this is very different in flow and verse, and much its own song ... I hear some very specific chords for this ... slower and more melancholy, with a muted trumpet solo, perhaps? Love it, Bud! Fav-ing this one!

Don't underestimate the power of your words, John, you are a SUPERB lyricist, and I am a good judge of such things ... you should be submitting to record companies and artist co-ops, cuz you could make good money. And when this present project of mine is done we're going to talk seriously about some ideas I have. I have some wonderful "guest" artists on my upcoming album, and it's only because I approached them in a serious and professional manner ... you would be surprised how many well-known musicians are eager to help "little" guys like us. And some of the people I approached who said no because of scheduling, have said they'd be happy to help me out in the future, and I correspond regularly with some, (Brenda Russell, John Klemmer, Michael McDonald, Bill Cantos, Yolanda Adams, Patti Labelle, and more). It's just a matter of DOING it! You are GOOD! Don't doubt yourself, Brother.

Thanks Greg for the fave, you're right, the melody writes itself with this one, cadence pretty predictable, muted trumpet? Now you have my attention, maybe I'll call Chris Botti, he can lay down a track, lol!!(yeah right)

Yes!! POTD, Brother - awesome!! I am so psyched to see one of your lyrics here ... and I love this! (Perhaps one for the studio?) Do you know of Stephen Bishop? One of my favorite songwriters of all time, he sang a song for the movie "Tootsie" called "It Might Be You", and though it was written by Dave Grusin and a lyric team of Alan & Marilyn Bergman, (unusual for him to sing another songwriter's song), his voice fit perfectly, and it's one of my favorite songs EVER. Check it out sometime ...

Thanks Greg, yeah I know the song well, it was a huge hit here in Canada, did it win something, I think a Grammy or Academy award? Stephen Bishop great voice. I would love this to be recorded, I thought it was good when I wrote it, now getting all the positive buzz I am encouraged. Too bad limited with finances, I can't do much, most composers want money for their melody, but I would split royalties, better for both (I think)
