Nothing Lasts Forever

Many memories have I beheld
all present and all knowing
a loving family I protect
within these walls, years flowing.

Alas, the bookends of time
came crashing down this night
devils danced in wicked winds
evoking scorching screams of fright.

Now suffocating, a flaming pyre
I perish, obliterated by fire.

This is wonderful, Laura, powerful and edged with darkness, (which I love) ... I personally have found much healing and beauty in writing dark pieces - in going to places inside that I fear, facing those fears, and turning them to something beautiful, (a poem). I'm not into gore or anything graphic, but as Van Gogh said, "Looking at the stars always makes me dream", and I have found much beauty in the dark. Wonderful write - fav-ing! :-)

This was a scorching piece! (Because you used fire in the end of your piece) :) The utter descent in these lines hit so hard for me.
