Highveld Storm

Oh Aphrodite! Mother of my two pearls Venus of my night sky Commander of my world I fell for you like a comet I burnt for you like Mars Abide in my trajectory While guided by stars Your sonnet dedication metered All is written in quatrain I'm completed in your presence In your absence I abstain Diurnally blinded by fire in the sky Cupped my hand to shade my eyes And thirstily complain, about the lack of rain Elongated animals on savanas and plains Nocturnally beleagered but eternally yours Seeking answers in ash , while staring at coals no one hears my guitar so voicelessly strummed Flames my desire , so forsaken my soul A hundred thousand embers Sparked a thousand million stars Explosions in the ether Flashing diamonds that we know Unprepared for this journey Undeterred my savage heart Skies are ripped and torn by thunder Clouds adrift and left asunder Lonely cloud goes East and cries The other West, and melted... dies

OH JANNIE, this poem is absolutely beautiful. It drew me from first word to last. Meant to be read allowed it is dreamy, romantic and yearning. As for the clouds what can you do with Mother Natures whims?

Had to "favorite" this one, Jannie - love it! The imagery, rhythm, concept, and of course of celestial bearing - keep up the great work! (Any ideas as to how I can get people to comment on my poems? I have well over a hundred poems here, most of which I feel are a good deal above average, but very, very few comments. Is there a process or clique here that I'm unaware of? Thanks in advance, my friend). :)

Jannie! This is a wow and my poetry adrenaline is spiked! The first 3 stanzas grabbed me, had me sitting up straighter with excitement for the rest of this excellent rhyme-flowing, imagery-packed and emotionally filled poem of longing as only one who has loved can long. Good to be reading you, especially at this level of your talent. You blew me away ... CayCay

My special friend this is too nice to hear. My ears burn. Both you and Freddie are people I respect for your talent, so I am deeply grateful for your utterance

Wow! You have a way w/words, Jannie. A beautiful way w/words. A fabulous sonnet is really too underwhelming a praise I can give. This poem is larger than life. It is a rare jewel in the pantheon of poetry on this website. You are a rare talent, my friend. Breathtaking poetry. I love reading your thoughts/feelings. A beautiful mind you have. Love and more love to you always.

Freddie my brother I thank you graciously for such praise. I made a mistake because it isnt a true sonnet . But those are semantics right now.I am so humbled
