after the big storm  had passed, i did some late ‘spring’ cleaning by rummaging through closets and  stuff in the basement/kitchen area…lo and behold!.. i realized there were some things i couldn’t get enough of… to my surprise, i had boxes of fragrant candles in different shapes and sizes ( from vanilla, lavender, cotton, juniper, lilac to ylang-ylang---  not to mention votives i bought in Macy’s 2 years back)…

going through  the motions, peep-toe sandals were littered on shelves and boxes ( yes, unused but still intact..fact is i bought a yellow pair with pretty bows on the sides just today)… think of hordering, yipes!...likewise, i couldn’t believe  had a 2-year supply of trail nuts, some of which have nearly expired!...

and the beat goes on… found out i tucked a mix of jazz, r and b, and mood –music cds as …well, okay, there were 3 tracks of nina simone bearing the same title…

my male buddy called and i shared this weird habit of mine over a long chat.. he laughed and said i should look at his packs of untouched crossword puzzle mags and piles of hand towels, huh???...

these are just a few things i may impulsively (subconsciously?) collect, but the thought of keeping them around makes me feel good!... oh, and underwear?.. let’s not go there, lol!

so, what things can’t you resist having, sweet soupers??

huggs! :)

My clothes are worn out and old, but I keep one marrying and burying out fit. I love candles(yummy) but don't buy any... My hubby is a true hoarder so I suddenly lost the joy in buying...I collect people and animals (3 dogs, 1 cat, and a baby fish named whale)...The people come and go... But like everyone here I LOVE BOOKS. I just gave my son The Hunger Games Set and read them all in a week... before he went to college with them. I want to collect every book I read and can read a book a day so... I write poetry every day instead... Satisfying and filling... and doesn't cost as much, too. I rarely read a book but occasionally can't resist.Yummy

Games-board games, decks of cards, puzzles. Books--boxes and boxes of books-and I haven't read half of them. if I see books for sale I HAVE to look through them. My husband just shakes his head. Pieces of paper, bits of this and that-little mementos.

Socks, socks and more socks!...Top drawer is running over...funny thing is it makes IT HARDER to find the right pair of socks to wear when I go out...I have one pair that I've had way over 20 years...completely worn out but they're so beautiful and unique and we've gotten to be such good friends and sometimes we even talk to each other and... (uh oh!)

Gosh I am boring or weird, I love power tools, I buy odd ones now and then but then have to find some way to use them. I could empty a DIY shop ...my latest is an adapter for a drill to drill at 90 degrees instead of straight in.

shoes, books, dvd, did I mention shoes, Unicorns (everything) glow in the darks. Lots of clothing I think I'm the pack rat leader. I'm also a collector of antique toys packaged and all. Like Vie, I have a secret rock collection. I'm also an electronic freak. I own over 7 laptops now, meaningless computers, tablets. Last year, I had over 15 televisions in my house. I left over 7 tv's behind when I moved. I also own 5 cars...lol.. 3 dodge cars, and a gas saver (2006 sun-fire) . I had a very nice suv~ expedition, someone sugared my gas tank :-( I'm crazy, I grew up having lots of,,get it lots of... I never settled for just one.. Like barbies... I had a whooping set of barbies growing up.

I'm going to Cyndi's house to read her Nancy Drew books.... Secret of the old Clock was the first one I ever readk, but I read most of them, then passed them down to my niece who was 9 years younger than me, my mother never believed in keeping anything , no sentimental value in her blood, if you were through with it get rid of it, I think thats why I am such a pack rat now

! I decluttered tons of stuff when we moved... I have only 3 drawers of clothes, 4 pairs of shoes, 1 purse... BUT I, like apparently every poet on Soup, have a book problem. Truth? I still have my entire hard cover Nancy Drew book collection. I have tried to donate these a hundred times and can't. Yet I very much doubt my girl will want to read dialogue that goes, "Peachy keen, Beth," Nancy said to her best friend. They are very outdated. But come on, the Secret of the Old Clock is bound to reappear on the bestsellers list, right? Hee hee. Right. I will never part with The Secret Garden... a gift from our elementary school librarian for assisting in the library. I'm a lost cause. LOL.xox

good grief, Nette, you are talking to the master of all hoarders. But I always try to keep my stuff "out of sight" to keep joe off my back. I have about a thousand old records from the 60's and 70's stored away (hopefully I could get money for them?) all my old tapes and videos (after throwing half away I still have 500 videos), lots of jewelry on display, shoes hanging up on the back of two closet doors, dozens of collector plates and nick nacks decorating my shelves and china cabinets, framed pictures on tables, etc etc. I even was collecting key chains for a while and got up to 200 of them all hooked together in my drawer. Oh, and tons of books on my booshelves!!

Books and movies.........however, I have one other big addiction. I have a "gift closet"......a big cupboard in my hallway that is filled with gifts that I've picked up here and there throughout the year. Whenever I see something that would be a clever, unique or special gift for someone, I'll buy it, even if there is no occasion.....stick it away, then sometimes forget about it. If a birthday, or special event comes around.....I can go browsing or "shopping" in my own closet.....I tend to get carried away, overbuy and often have things sitting on those shelves for many seasons before I actually remember to give them away. But sure is handy in an emergency! I'm never caught empty-handed!

I too cannot resist books, I have my own library which at the last count was nearly 11,000 ( two years ago) and today I have just ordered more shelves to unpack countless boxes. I could live and lose myself in there, it is a peaceful haven. ...I am typing this from there....David

purses, I have a poem about them somewhere here on the soup..... I rarely carry one but I have about 40 of them...... and books, I have 7 bookcases, all overflowing and 87 books in my kobo e-reader ( at least they don't take up any room).... oh and totes and totes of craft supplies including 2 totes of driftwood to make hobbit houses, .... and of course one entire closet full of wool..... yes I have my addictions
