Edward Ibeh's 'Pick-A-Title, Vol 51' Contest...submitted 10 May 2025

Upon this dappled hill I stand Before these priceless scenes so grand That no one ever saw Beneath... upon a ridge so high A bright display, the cerise sky Rooted alone in awe. No fearless bird did ever reach No mountain high could ever breach I think thus as i sigh All so perfect where they are The fragrant wind, the distant star In peace so complete...I fly ! Then wisps of dew, the tangy breeze The rising brooks and soaring trees Such wonders that I see--- This misty hill , the sun has shown- Gems of earth that I haven't known Ascending into heaven , free ! Third Place

Lovely word play here, Nette... I like how your poem is a celebration of nature's quiet majesty, spoken from a place of deep solitude and wonder. I can imagine standing “upon this dappled hill,” overwhelmed by a view that feels untouched and uniquely theirs—“that no one ever saw.” Your language evokes a sense of discovery, as if the natural world is revealing hidden beauty only to those still and open enough to perceive it.
