Welcome to my page!

I am a man of many interests - TOO many, I think, lol - and because of that I never gave writing the attention I should have when I was young. I started writing poetry in December of 2016, and joined Poetry Soup at the same time. I am currently working on an R&B/Soul album for a major label, so, as has usually been the case, poetry does not get the time I'd like to give it, (though I plan to change that in the future, and write a book-or-two, a sci-fi novel and an autobiography) ...

I like to incorporate classic styles and phrasing into a modern frame when I write poetry, and try to cover a wide range of genres, but I enjoy the darkly sensual the most, despite its limited audience. I hope you'll give my rather unusual style a chance, read a piece-or-two, and leave a comment, if you'd be so kind. This was a tough one to judge, and as with a previous contest of mine, I had everyone a slot higher until I got to the two winners, which were set apart and above the rest ... they were two of the last few entries, and spoke to me a bit louder, so I felt I needed to scale the rest in respect to their quality. That has only happened once before in a contest of mine ...

But, what an amazing group of four-line Free Verse and Rhyme poems this was, and I thank you all so much for your kind participation! VERY little divided first from sixth, and it came down to minor things and emotional impact. There was also only ONE N/A again, due to it not being taken from a previous poem or being properly referenced, and a wonderful write, sadly ...

(Please read instructions, folks - I hate to N/A anyone) ...

I plan to do something similar for the next contest, so keep your eyes peeled ... this has proven to be a lot of fun for me, and a fun exercise for you, too, I believe, as it hones the edge of word usage and phrasing, and emphasizes the skill of saying the most with the least amount of words, ("filler" words muddy the waters).
