sift, sift, the sands of time sift, for loves gone missing sifting thru a passion’s pall bows, once sweetly kissing bend, bend, the willows old bend, with breezes, sighing bending with its aging arms through neglect, now dying cold, cold, the winds of life cold, to freeze the marrow colder than a heart, misled pierced with envy’s arrow lost, lost, a true love’s eyes lost, with tears, a-brimming lost to drown inside a gaze ne’er again … be swimming. * This is the 3rd “sister” poem to ‘Soft, The Bells’ and ‘Swift, The Rills * ~ Copyright © Gregory Richard Barden, April 6, 2024

Hello Gregory, Your poem evokes a wonderful and stark reflection on the passage of time and the erosion of love. I loved how each stanza, a melancholic symphony, is filled with the human experience. I feel the urge to sift through the sands of my own life, bending with the willows, confronting the cold winds, and ultimately finding peace in the beauty of your verse. Mark Massey recommended you and said we have similar styles. I enjoyed reading this poem and hope to read many more. - Blessings, Daniel

Thank you so kindly, I so greatly appreciate the kind words! I’m not here much anymore but I do post my new work regularly and check in - Mark is a great guy. I’m having my first book published soon by a company in GB, first of a three-book deal, so very excited about that - I’ll probably announce the launch here in June. Blessings to you - write anytime!
