~
please tell me May will come again
around a life where lives have been
as tender light from high, the moon
deep in the gloaming, none too soon
yes, tell me I’ve sprung wings to soar
away and on -
away and on …
please tell me that I’ll bloom in spring
and come to bear the grandest things
life’s wheel a-turning round and round
while casting mine, adventure-bound
where passions are the press, on high
away and on -
away and on …
please tell me worlds are twirling free
where each dear soul can come to be
the essence of their wildest schemes
to find the truth beyond their dreams
flights, second to no more than none
away and on -
away and on …
please tell me I should grasp, in hand
the warmest flesh of youth’s demand
and shape it, gently, with sweet grace
that wisdom’s guise must now replace
and wend its precious brow, my kiss …
away and on -
away and on.
