HAPPY FATHER'S DAY! - Gregory Richard Barden's Blog

Welcome to my page!

I am a man of many interests - TOO many, I think, lol - and because of that I never gave writing the attention I should have when I was young. I started writing poetry in December of 2016, and joined Poetry Soup at the same time. I am currently working on an R&B/Soul album for a major label, so, as has usually been the case, poetry does not get the time I'd like to give it, (though I plan to change that in the future, and write a book-or-two, a sci-fi novel and an autobiography) ...

I like to incorporate classic styles and phrasing into a modern frame when I write poetry, and try to cover a wide range of genres, but I enjoy the darkly sensual the most, despite its limited audience. I hope you'll give my rather unusual style a chance, read a piece-or-two, and leave a comment, if you'd be so kind. I also hope you'll visit my music web site as well, (at the following address under my moniker "Bahku") - mostly (very) old recordings there, but also a snippet of the first single coming, and more new stuff soon!

The Happiest of Father's Days to all my fellow fathers!

(AND those mothers who had to do it all alone - I was a single dad and did double-duty as well)

Anyone who does not believe in "Love At First Sight" has never watched their child being born, or stared into those little eyes for the first time ... your world, heart, soul, and spirit are never again JUST yours.

This is the first without my dad, (who passed 10/27), but he is with us today nonetheless. <3

Thanks so much, Andrea, that means a lot ... I'm sorry about your dad as well ... this was a tough one, but we had one of the 2' x 3' photos of Dad (that we had made for his service) sitting in a chair out on the deck with us, and had a toast to him, as well as each person talking about a favorite memory or anecdote about him, so he was with us just the same. It was a good day ... but we miss him so much. Blessings, Buddy. <3

Happy Father's Day to you, Greg, and every father out there! This is a role I can't wait to be blessed with in the future, for sure. My wife and I are still enjoying our childless marriage. Sorry for your loss, my poet brother. This is a bittersweet day for me as well; the third without my pops:-( Miss him very much. Again, have a magnificent day, fathers!
