I've been walking down this road alone Searching for a way to get back home but each brick releases pensive memories until they've blurred in a shade of monochrome Maybe I was a coward for deciding to leave Trepidation became fear so I walked away but some say it took the courage of a lion to leave him standing in the door that day If I'd been bastioned in an armored suit of tin my tears would have encrusted me in rust To a heart that can't stop crying over lost love it's too daunting a task to believe again in trust How foolish I was, to rely upon a naive heart for allowing me to drown in a deluge of rain There's no hiding beneath a haystack of straw It was inane to let my heart overrule my brain No wizard's words spoken from behind a curtain will guide me since love came disguised as a thief No magic wand waved will help me find my way Only time has the power to allay such grief

Wonderfully poignant and heartfelt, and full of wisdom, (though wisdom is often gained painfully) ... love this one, Lin, and it shows the extraordinary depths of your soul and heart, and pulls the reader completely in. What a superb write - must fav! (I have been writing one about the red brick road, but can't finish it). Blessings, Dear Friend! :-) <3

A red brick road leaves me speculating the cause for such color. My imagination runs wild so I'll wait for you to post it. Thanks for the fantastic comments.

Sometimes a yellow brick road...is just that, a yellow brick road...nicely penned Laney...but still hopefully the Wizard can give you a poetic medal of long lost love...stay in the Wizards light...^WW^

I don't believe in wizards or wands, and the only medal I'll accept is one for living solo and lovin' it. Thanks for the great remarks, WW.

The Munchkins are under my protection, Charlie, dear. I didn't risk their lives by mentioning them, cuz I've heard the wicked witch got herself back together and she didn't really melt. Ha...Thanks, my friend.

Your poems gives new meaning to There's no place like home... there's no place like home as no one knows what really goes on behind closed doors and what a person goes through that forces them to leave everything behind. If only we could click those ruby slippers and everything is fine but that's all for the movies not for real life, So powerfully penned Lin, stay strong and keep smiling my friend . Hugs jan xx

It's difficult to feel like any place is home when the one you love will not be there. You know my whole story and that I'm well over it all by now. Thank you for always supporting me, Jan.
