I Thank You & Apologize - Gregory Richard Barden's Blog

Welcome to my page!

I am a man of many interests - TOO many, I think, lol - and because of that I never gave writing the attention I should have when I was young. I started writing poetry in December of 2016, and joined Poetry Soup at the same time. I am currently working on an R&B/Soul album for a major label, so, as has usually been the case, poetry does not get the time I'd like to give it, (though I plan to change that in the future, and write a book-or-two, a sci-fi novel and an autobiography) ...

I like to incorporate classic styles and phrasing into a modern frame when I write poetry, and try to cover a wide range of genres, but I enjoy the darkly sensual the most, despite its limited audience. I hope you'll give my rather unusual style a chance, read a piece-or-two, and leave a comment, if you'd be so kind. I also hope you'll visit my music web site as well, (at the following address under my moniker "Bahku") - mostly (very) old recordings there, but also a snippet of the first single coming, and more new stuff soon!

I took down my most recent blog, and while I am VERY passionate about the reasons for posting it, (nepotism, favoritism, and the expectation to engage in them), I should NOT have done so in a state of anger and stress, because negativity of ANY kind serves no purpose, and in fact just feeds itself. In that, I hope you'll accept my sincerest apologies ...

But I also want to thank ALL those who voiced their opinions and offered their support - I didn't get a chance to reply to everyone, but please know that I read them all a number of times, and greatly appreciate you taking the time to speak up on this rather important issue, that originates in the rules of this site ... I'd like to hope that things will change, time will tell ...

Most of you folks on this site are truly good people, motivated by the love of poetry and sharing what you write in an honest and straightforward way, and I am blessed to be a part of that positive community, and honored to call you "friends". But we humans are imperfect, and the gears of social sites are greased in many ways, not all of which are respectable ...

Again, please excuse my angry blog, and thank you from my heart for your kind words. <3

Don't sweat the small stuff, Greg:-) You did nothing wrong, my friend. No need for an apology because your blog wasn't offensive to anyone. I personally didn't find your blog angry. First of all, you had every right to voice your frustrations, and you were speaking for a LOT of us, believe it or not! Secondly, it's understandable to complain about someone giving you a rough time and trying to make you compromise your principles. And you know what? I'm actually glad you did! Keep on speaking your truth, my poet brother!:-)

Righteous anger at a despicable and corrupt demand to play the tit for tat game, is an understandable reaction my friend. As is this decision to remove your blog that exposed the dastardly game some play and now go forward with your great poetry. Sad that some few engage in such deceitful games to garner/praise/attention and a falsely crafted image but we all know such is just the evil in human nature. God bless my friend..

Greg, I didn't comment on your initial blog for reasons I gave you privately. Your anger was not misplaced, and as an imperfect human you reacted to the spiteful soup mail with the blog. Your apology for it shows your true nature, which should never be in question. I'm also glad that you removed it and the reason(s) why you did. There are many problematic issues with PS; cheating, trolling, phony accounts...all of which could be corrected if a responsible management team maintained the site. Far too many complaints to them fall upon blind eyes and deaf ears. In return for the money some people pay for the right to post pictures and host contests, they should receive the compensation they deserve.
