Welcome to my page!

I am a man of many interests - TOO many, I think, lol - and because of that I never gave writing the attention I should have when I was young. I started writing poetry in December of 2016, and joined Poetry Soup at the same time. I am currently working on an R&B/Soul album for a major label, so, as has usually been the case, poetry does not get the time I'd like to give it, (though I plan to change that in the future, and write a book-or-two, a sci-fi novel and an autobiography) ...

I like to incorporate classic styles and phrasing into a modern frame when I write poetry, and try to cover a wide range of genres, but I enjoy the darkly sensual the most, despite its limited audience. I hope you'll give my rather unusual style a chance, read a piece-or-two, and leave a comment, if you'd be so kind. Well, absolutely NO N/A's this time, which is awesome ... I THOUGHT there was going to be as someone put their name on their poem, but my instructions didn't say NOT to, so that person got a pass, (thankfully, as it was a good poem). I also didn't say exact rhyme, (which I always intend to), so a couple got passes there, too. Once again, there was an amazing collection of submissions here, and the difference between 1st and 5th was not much - grammar, tenses, presentation, etc. - so everyone should feel proud!

Thank you so much for entering, these are a lot of fun for me - I hope you like them, too, because I think it helps in training us to maximize word-usage and phrasing, and to say more while using fewer characters, (as with Haiku). Also, thanks for your patience, as my dad's worsening dementia and a recording deadline, (on top of the daily grind of lawns, house, vehicles, meals, etc.), have left me with little time for ANYthing superfluous of late. Thank you, Greg, for my placement in your contest! I’m so sorry about your dad..I had a similar situation with mine, as well. Today is the one year anniversary of his passing, but I know he is in a better place and not suffering anymore.
