Welcome to my page!

I am a man of many interests - TOO many, I think, lol - and because of that I never gave writing the attention I should have when I was young. I started writing poetry in December of 2016, and joined Poetry Soup at the same time. I am currently working on an R&B/Soul album for a major label, so, as has usually been the case, poetry does not get the time I'd like to give it, (though I plan to change that in the future, and write a book-or-two, a sci-fi novel and an autobiography) ...

I like to incorporate classic styles and phrasing into a modern frame when I write poetry, and try to cover a wide range of genres, but I enjoy the darkly sensual the most, despite its limited audience. I hope you'll give my rather unusual style a chance, read a piece-or-two, and leave a comment, if you'd be so kind. I also hope you'll visit my music web site as well, (at the following address under my moniker "Bahku") - mostly (very) old recordings there, but also a snippet of the first single coming, and more new stuff soon!

The HAPPIEST THANKSGIVING to everyone here at Poetry Soup!

My Great Uncle Lem used to say: "Sunlight can peep through a wee hole!"

Life has never been as difficult for me and mine as it is right now, yet there is a bounty of things I am thankful for, not the least of which are the good, honest, caring friends I have made here ...

It has become a peaceful refuge for me, and while no place is perfect in the social media world, there is a large percentage of sweet people here, and very few that add any bitter spice ...

The very best of health, happiness and heartfelt blessings to you and yours! <3

 

A LIFE OF THANKS

Oh, what an easy thought to find,
          The countless things I'm thankful for,
               Soft-spilling, joyous, as they pour
     From each deep recess of my mind ...

Like gold doubloons, they shine and spin,
          Each one a cherished treasure, fine,
               Such wealth, have I, that's wholly mine,
     Locked safe forever, deep within ...

Fast, they pass thru lifetime's sieve,
          Our loves and graces, big and small,
               And moments, rare, but most of all ...
     The grandest gift, to simply ... LIVE.

Not sure how Keith can cheer you up by lamenting his horrible anus which would normally, at least for most, be a private issue, but then Keith has never been normal and certainly never boring. So perhaps with that consideration, a peek in the "rear" view mirror about issues "down there" deserve some condolences. That said, allow those gold doubloons to fill your heart and celebrate it all Dear Greg.

Greg. thanks for this message and your heartfelt poem. I know your life has not been easy this year, so it's so good for you to remain as positive and grateful as you can for things. I was thinking OH NO, all that snow. But then I read the bottom note you wrote. We too have avoided the great part of snowfall from up north in Utah!! But we are in the 20's!! Enjoy those 50's! I will be alone today. I got to celebrate yesterday with my kids both here. Joe works this day always, so my thanksgivings are always on Wednesday!
