ONE THING YOU WANTED TO TELL DAD BUT DIDN'T

Blog Posted:6/13/2013 11:19:00 AM

Father's Day is fast approaching and I am reminded of my Dad, as always.. he passed on when i was quite young that i never had the chance to tell him, " with you, everything seems so right, so safe... now, i feel lost in my world needing your calm presence.."

is there something you want to tell your Dad but couldn't, wouldn't?... Now is the time whether he is gone or alive... it can be a rant, a word of affection,anything!...share?

Happy Father's Day...

huggs and love to all!

So, it has been a hard year.. I had to say my goodbyes to my step dad in feburary and now my father is fighting for his life. I am not sure if I pushed my father away as a young child or if he pushed me away but either way our relationship is broken and his cancer has shown me a different side of him.. One I have never seen before. For the first time I have met who my father really is underneath the mask. I would say " dad I know you just wanted the best for me and you never knew how to show me, but I know you really care and I love you" This is where I would start.. Hope all is well Nette!

K, so here's what I'd tell my dad... You have no IDEA how bad it hurts to have a baby, no matter how much you think you do. And I love you anyway. And hi Netteski, nice to see you're still at it!! <3 namaste ~ n

My dad doesn't say much. Since I was a boy, we always hunted and fished together in silence. We had no relationship at all when I was a teenager(Just fights). We've been buddies again for the last ten years or so. He doesn't hunt anymore but we fish together all the time...still...usually in silence. But I reckon we don't need to say much to hang out and fish...

Dear Daddy, I am sure you knew but I wish I had said it aloud more often that I loved you. You were a perfect, self-sacrificing dad to all of us and we had more respect for you than for any public figure living or dead. Our hero in overalls. Your loving daughter

Nette, I can tell my dad anything I want to, but it's as if we were in other worlds. He is mentally ill and when I talk to him on the phone I can sense him wanting to just get off. he knows I love him and I know he loves me. I write him from time to time and express my appreciation for him. It was the money for children of disabled veterans that allowed my sisters and me to go to college. For that I will always be grateful.

Tad you were my life, at the end I wanted you to pass on, because then you would be out of pain, not realizing totally that in those words were the heartache of never seeing you again. We laughed at the same things, my scatty humour I thank you for. I talk to you all the time, would love to hear that lovely voice answering me once more. Nos Da Tad xxx

Dad..since I was seven you were always ill.Depression has made of you a prisoner of your own thoughts and beliefs.I want to tell you I'm sorry for the times I wished you were different, for the times I didn't understand your heartache and pain.Dear dad I just want to tell you I loved you, love you and always will for who you are and not for whom I wanted you to be.I hope you live to hundreds of father's day and I hope that by being there in your life I made your days a little bit better and your heart a little bit happier.Dear dad thanks for loving me in the way you know best..Now that I'm old enough to understand ..I want it no other way.Thankyou for every story read, each hug shared-much love

Dad, I didn't want you to die. I wanted so badly to ease your death, to be strong for you and just be that shoulder. I told you not be afraid. I told you that I believed in Heaven, that we would be together again. I told you that that the past was the past, all was forgiven, even the really awful stuff. I told you it was okay for you to take your time, because you asked me if you were taking too long. But a part of me regrets not telling you I didn't want you to go. That I wasn't ready for you to die. That life isn't fair... I feel you sometimes, hear your laugh. Verity is a lot like you, at times. She has our toes! I'll make you proud, okay? I love you. PS hug God for me.
