blame in on my being a part-time contributing editor for mags and dailies here… regarding lifestyle, i wrote an article on how our moods affect the way we treat-- FOOD ! ( notwithstanding retail therapy)… recent studies show that we crave  certain meals when our feelings are peaking at high levels..

for the angry me, I take packs of m and m’s mixed with toasted chunks of pork skin ( we call  this ‘ chicharon’) and cap the sinful treat with iced tea.. ( love the way I crush the nuts in my mouth, rawwrhrr!)…

salad soothes my pensive mood...lettuce, leaves topped with salmon, marshmallow, carrots, and deviled boiled eggs---crowned by squirts of ranch dressing---rev me up!

 and when i feel a slow rush of romance, i grab fruits like grapes or watermelon ( a freudian symbol of ‘juiciness’ ?)…

no matter what we eat during our emotional highs and lows, i discovered that the combined interplay of smell, texture, and taste allows the brain to kick in certain stimuli, memories and natural urges…

so when mom brings hot chicken soup on a lonely day, the mind translates soup to a sense of  emotional relief…yes, it does!

what kind of comfort food  makes you feel good, even for a short while?... don’t count the calories; count the rewards!...

Pretzels covered with dark chocolate and the drink that soothes me, an extra hot chai latte, my favorite. I also love kashi cereal with almond milk. (comfort food for me) and bread hot out of the oven with olive oil. Now I'm getting hungry!

marlon: you are a walking carbo man, lol...and your dessert is really sweet, including wifey, ahem!... gawddd you're into chicharon too?.. yup, i buy mine in filipino stores when i go to LA... in my country, men enjoy these ' crackers' with their cold beer.... indulge!..:) huggs!

dang, I am late for my tutoring job. But quickly I will tell you that I am not a fruit person though I force myself to eat fruits and veggies at least a few a day. I adore salty stuff!! and cheesy and fattening!
