Bloggers Photo   Hi! My name is Kim Merryman. I was born April 27, 1959 in Louisville, KY but grew up in Rancho Cordova, CA.  My husband's name is Rob. We were married on May 30, 1981 and we have two grown sons named Daniel and Matthew, and a black cat named Max.

    I currently live in Niceville, FL located in the Florida Panhandle, near Eglin AFB. With my husband being in the Air Force we have moved around a little. We have lived in California, Florida, Texas, Okinawa and North Carolina.

    I am a Christian and many of my poems reflect that.  I've only been writing poetry for 7 years. Most of my inspiration comes while I'm reading my Bible.

     My other interests include reading, crocheting, counted-cross stitch, and playing Scrabble.

     I'm so glad I found Poetry Soup. Since becoming a member I have learned so many new forms. The contests have stretched my creativity and the positive comments are so encouraging.  Even though I've never met you, I feel like I know you. Looking forward to a long, happy relationship with all of you.

I was one of the four whose syllable count was off. I should have rechecked my syllable count. With that being said, I enjoy these Pleaides contest, and I can't wait for the next one:-) Alexis

Many thanks for my placement I thoroughly enjoy these challenges you set us. Shame some missed out on placements because of syllable errors, perhaps they didn't use How Many Syllables as your rules require. I have found big differences between the soup counter and HMS! My congrats to all the winners:-) hugs jan xx

I've always thought the word "Real" was ONE syllable as well. It's confusing, lol. Anyway, I'll accept it has two syllables. Thanks, Jan and Milt!

Edward, unfortunately there are discrepancies in the counters - I count real as one but the syllable counter shows it as 2. HMS shows your line as 6, the soup counter shows it as 5.

Edward, "Real, smart grasshopper is 5 syllables. If someone or something said it is 6, they are incorrect. Sorry you missed out because of a miscount somewhere. You should point this out to Kim, frankly.

I was one of the 4, unfortunately. "Real smart, grasshopper" which I thought was 5 syllables was actually 6. Oops, oh well...lol. Heartiest congratulations to all the winners!
