Way of Tears
Way of Tears
Along a winding road - a narrow way
A crowd now gathers on these streets of grey
To watch a man pass by condemned to die this day -
On the way of tears.
They come to jeer a man who healed the lame
To watch him suffering who healed their pain
They come to ask him if his God will save him now
From the way of tears.
Along the way of tears, this way of sorrow
Slowly comes the man who will bring tomorrow
And if these stones could speak they would scream the truth
About this man of tears. They would scream the truth!
O man of suffering - gentle lamb
You stood before the world truth was all you had
Feared and rejected by those you came to save
On the way of tears.
O sinless man of God, man of peace
You, the Emmanuel, bleeding on these streets
And now you stumble beneath the weight of my sin
On the way of tears.
Along the way of tears, this way of sorrow
Slowly comes the man who would bring tomorrow
And if these stones could speak they would scream the truth
About the man of tears. Savior! Redeemer! Truth!
