In the spirit of Elijah, John appeared on the scene, Preaching that they should repent of sin, "Come sinners, get clean". He baptized in the Jordan those who confessed their sin, And called out the self-righteous for their hard hearts within. John had a mission: to prepare the way for Messiah. To some he seemed a prophet, to others a pariah. His clothing was strange - a tunic made up of camel's hair, And he dined on locusts and wild honey - such meager fare. Meeting Jesus at the Jordan, John baptized Him one day. "This is My beloved Son," he heard God clearly say. King Herod didn't like John much and had him arrested. Then Salome danced her best, and John's head was requested.

Kim, congrats! Fantastic poem on John the Baptizer. So many don't realized Christ is not God, but God's son. Glad you used that scripture, showing God in heaven, and Christ on earth, two separate individuals. Well done!

You have been very faithful to "John the Baptist", even though you had to summarise what could have otherwise been a long version, Kim! ~ Regards // paul

Hi Kim, It was such a barbaric act. I guess as professed Christians, we are supposed to take our misery as a blessing. It ain't easy though.. Enjoyed this poem.
