Everyone would say, did you hear? She's the one She's too young How irresponsible Wearing smiles upon their faces, pasting labels on her back Her sullied reputation, a newborn in her pack How impossible Everyone would say did you know that he has gone? Mistakes she made, she'll be known to fail Mistakes she made, will be known by all Mistakes he made.......... well boys are boys she made her bed, she had a choice Every voice will say, oh well...... Everyone will say Her choice, her bed, she made her hell Who's left to blame? Her fault, her shame, her belly swells What was his name? Well.....shame, shame, shame She hears the words She holds them close She holds the babe that she will bear She bears the babe that she'll adore Bittersweet, was yesterday, Regret, they say, she'll toss away A babe she bore......she holds with pride This motherhood, she will not fail Who once was frail.....she'll take in stride And motherhood, she wears it well

Wonderful opening stanzas! So alive. Can clearly see those label-slappers as she walks by. Like your view of forgetting the past, just treasuring the miracle of life. That is the only way to go with situations like this, so its awesome that you support it with your poetry.

Thank you for entering and for understanding. The point of the contest was to hear a story from the 1500-1600 and realize, there are still people and situations like this happening in the 21st century. It's too bad but understandable since who or what is a monster changes by culture. Congrad's, Light & Love

Dear Deb.....I've been gone for a couple of days, just now discovering that this little poem made your list, and I am so surprised, so honored and pleased that it met what you were looking for. I struggled with this contest at first, thinking I needed something more "medival" in thinking....but just went with my gut! So Thank You very much, I'm dancing !!

Hi Carrie. People can be so cruel when they judge others. Then they tend to overlook it when they are proven wrong, so sad for those that are attacked but I think even more sad for those that never learn. Powerful poem and very well written. Thanks for sharing, my friend.... Robert.

Carrie, this is fantastic! You captured the hatefulness of those who judge and the shame of the young girl then turned it into a positive. I love this! Going in my fav's. Love, Kim
