Hi Soupers. How much music have you on your I-Pod, or any device that holds your favourite music. I have at last nearly caught up with recording my music collection of vinyl and cd's on to my I-Pod, so far i have 60.35 GB on there, which in segments of one hour, a total of 1400 hours, which equates to 58.33 Days or 8.33 Weeks, 2.08months of non-stop music. and for variety, i like ALL kinds of music, hard to believe, everything!. so i have music from the 1920's to now, 2012 all genre. absolutely everything. and i'm still collecting old vinyl usually at 'Çar Boot Sale' and charity Shops. there  told you so something completely different.   Harry

I could listen to music all day, Harry. Like Ruben, I had hundreds of cds. I'm slowly getting rid of them for space. My priorities have changed since becoming a mom. I have about 1000 songs on my ipod and anything else I want to hear I can always find online. I cried at the first yard sale I sold cds at. Now it's getting easier. Much of the music (especially stuff from the sixties and seventies) reminded me of my dad. He was a musician and music was always a big part of our time together. I still have some of his vinyls. Great blog...hugs, Rhonda

I am listening to my ipod now, i have it on shuffle. 4576 songs, do not know the equivalent in hours, but I had a six week trip last summer, and no repeats.

Yes Debbie, one can now purchase a machine, which will record from one to the other. that is what i did, with my first 600 tapes, now i record in single track on to a usb stick and convert that way, but the machine is easier, try looking on the net, just type into google, Casette tape to cd, it will bring up heaps of options.

Is there anyway to easily copy from tape to cd?

we don't have the original vinyl records, lol, but my wife loves 1920s, 30s and 40s music too, Harry. She stores her music mostly on her phone, I think

Mandy cannot wait, p.d interesting question. i started as i said below, recording my collection on to blank tapes in June 1986, 26 years ago, as you can see music is a serious hobby with me. Thanks for the interest. harry

Debbie & Andrea i also started with blank tapes and before the I-Pod came along 2009 had 600 that i had recorded, and i have still got the tapes, and yes Debbie, i'm at a loss at what to do with them, i'd give them away to a worthy cause if anyone can come up with an idea.

Yes Dan i found a long time ago, that one cannot record music for others to listen to, i play mine in the car, or here while i'm on the p.c or even writing poetry, although only as back ground music.

I pod? what is I pod? hahaha. Sigh. I have 800 records and over a thousand cassette tapes. I stopped recording or buying music years go because it does not pay to even have them. I listen to music as I drive to and from work. That's all the time I have for music anyway. there is too much in the world to enjoy, too many poems to read and to write, too many movies to view, too many books to read, family and church to interact with, etc etc. I really changed from when I was young and recorded all my favorite stuff on blank tapes!! Today, I can barely stay abreast of the top 20!!! It's so cool you have all the genres, Harry. I too have collections going back to 30's! (stuff I bought from tv)

sigh..so much work! I have been staring at boxes of cassettes! with my favorite ballads & what to do with them? the car has no cassette player anymore [sigh] I have a tower of CD's but no ipods & I guess I have kinda given up on popular music [I sing in church and I guess it's enough for me now...lots of classical and world music at our church] so NO I-Pod, no I pad, NO Kindel LOL [have pen & paper can write cursive! LOL]

Ruben that's going some, i'm old fashioned too, beat me with about 650 cd, the rest are vinyl. on my I-Pod i created a program so that all my collection was mixed, and not just a repeat of the cd's and vinyl discs

Mandy how apt, Dean Martin amongst others, some of your wonderful poetry, are "Memories are made of this' i like him too. at this very moment i'm listening to 'Memphis Minnie' from her 1950's vinyl 'Hot Stuff' brilliant.

We are behind you by quite a bit I think we have about 30 hours but not on an I pod its on a usb stick and like yourself it is eclectic, I have such a wide range of music from the good old days to todays stuff, my favourite is Dean Martin, I think but then something else comes on like Rownan and I love his as well and then Celine Dion, even Spike Jones that my dad used to mime to on stage, wierd hey xx
