A Figure of Speech

When one is down and out
Do not give up on life,
The bible says
‘And it came to pass’
Never did it say
It came to stay!

Also, as I like to remark, "This, too, shall pass!" We seem to live our life in vignettes...in a series of small crises. Actually, our society seems to limp along like that, too. We lurch from one crisis to another. I used to say, when counselling chronic worriers, "What were you worried about this time last year?" They generally couldn't remember.
