What Easter Means To Me

I followed you from Galilee To that sad day on Calvary Of love You spoke New hope You woke Some said I was a prostitute In me You saw no ill repute My heart now cries I watch You die Sharp spikes that pierce Your hands draw blood And through my heart emotions flood A Son so blessed Is laid to rest Three days I stayed outside Your tomb Never to see You I presumed And though I mourned Glory's reborn I genuflect and watch You rise To join Your Father in the skies This blessed day Showed us “The Way” The sacrifice You made for man Celebrated in many lands Easter Sunday Give thanks and pray Written in the first-person view of Mary Magdalene, one of Christ’s best known disciples. According to modern religious scholars, the Gospels of Mark and John say she was the first person to see Jesus after he rose from the dead.

And if the truth were to be known...most likely His wife, one of my favorite subjects, as you well know, so aptly penned into rhyme and verse. I believe He told her that he would rise in three days and to be waiting for Him, symbolic of how He appointed the rest of His bride to know the season of His return, a three month period, and to be waiting for His second coming:)

a moving piece of poetry and all so true. Jesus Christ is the true meaning of Easter and Christimas, not santa or the easter bunny. well done.

Some say she was Jesus' wife, too...and that it was their wedding feast where He turned wine into water. Some say that she is the same woman that he forgave and prevented the stoning with His comment, "...Let he who is without sin cast the first stone..." Others say they are not the same woman. Won't it be nice to meet them beyond the vail and have all of these questions answered. I enjoyed your poem. One thing for sure. Jesus died for our sins and arose from the grave. Thank God! LuvU!

Let me ask you something I have one book out called "Food for thought Poetry by Art" I've dealt with self publishers and they seem to all want you to spend your money to promote this book, now my second book by the same name is coming out as Book #2, again it's self published. The first book did limited sales, I've tried many avenues and a lot of expense, with few results after si months the first boo was taken off amazon.com without them notifying me they did it, any advise would be appreciated

you are a great story teller and you are a blessing to me because I wrote A Letter Home to Rome remember that one, Well your poetry is similar to mine because it was written by me but the gift was given to me by the Holy Spirit, as a novice it had to be because I'm not that creative, so in saying that God bless you and yours and never forget that we all have to do our works for Our Father, loved this poem

She is one of the reasons I believe the church made a major mistake allowing only single, males as priests. Mary Magdalene was One of the first at the tomb and eleven of the Apostles were married. Good luck in the contest. Vince

No words can express how I love this piece, I viewed a painting recently of Mary Magdeline and the discription said, she spent her entire life as a hermit, after Christ rose to heaven, repenting for her former life, on a deserted island, her love for him never wavering~~

I love this from Mary Magdalene's point of view. Great idea : ) Thanks for clarifying the contest rules for Gert and me. I had to laugh imagining you carrying John over the threshold. Priceless! I banged Sue's head on the doorframe and she snapped, 'Put me down.' LOL

This is a beautiful poem, Carolyn, but check the second line - cavalry implies horses. Calvary is the word. I know you know this, just got in a hurry. Love, Dave

I really love the poem from Mary Magdalene's point of view...exceptional write my friend. This will do well I know! Mary must have been in shock when she encountered Jesus after he rose from the dead...I'd likely have passed out:) Thanks for the comments and best wishes for A Trip out of this World...it was a very pleasurable write...I am a sky watcher!
