Broken Eyes

The saddest eyes I have ever seen, were green
Filled with broken promises and broken dreams
And looking closely in them I could see
Every horror and trauma she had ever seen
And the tortured past… that her life had been

And I cried the tears she could not cry
As she hid behind her broken eyes
