In India, a new Revolution is in the offing

In India, a new Revolution is in the offing

A silent revolution by peaceful non-violence and Satyagrah (fight for truth) is in the offing in India to remove corruption from our society. It has been started by an ex-soldier of Indian army the man called Anna Hazare* who is on fast for the last 62 hours to bring the corrupt leaders accountable before the public. I feel that its heat is going to affect not only many neighboring countries of India but also even the entire world.

I am giving below few websites, which would tell the entire story for those who wish to know more about this silent revolution in the age of IInd Renaissance based on knowledge and news through internet.

Thanks Debbie and James. It is a great victory in the first phase but the outcome would be known by Aug.2011 end, when a bill to this effect will be introduced in Indian Parliament? I will keep informing about this if there is any major development. I still feel this is an important incident for the whole world as internet has proved a blessing to bring such a astonishing result within just four five days from the date of giving Government of India a notice to stop corruption by a proper bill. The main idea is to keep a check on the corruption among higher ups and by curbing the top brass of our country. Until now, they are not accountable much before the public. This will be a burning example for other countries suffering same or similar problems. The only thing needed is an initiative by sincere and honest persons to move such an issue. Latest Update Great news -- the government of India has agreed to draft the Jan Lokpal bill with full participation of civil society, and Anna Hazare has agreed to suspend his fast!...... It's a huge victory -- but the key now is to keep building the pressure to ensure that a strong bill is drafted and then passed into law. If it is not enforced till Aug. 2011 another national campaign would be restarted by Anna and all supporters..... Ravindra 11.06 PM IST

I would welcome any such peaceful move to curb the rising corruption elsewhere in the world. Although in India this has happened when the corruption had crossed all limits in the last few years. I feel the results would spark similar happenings in my neighboring countries, where the people are facing the same or even deeper corrupt practices. Thanks Constance, Carrie and Vince for giving your views and kind comments. The most striking thing about this struggle of Anna is that ultimately Government of India has agreed to implement all his demands to constitute a body with 50% members from the Government and 50% from the public. This body would have one each separate Chairman and before this body every member of the Government including the Prime Minister of India would be accountable. A Government Order (GO) is likely to come tomorrow morning by 11 am and Anna would break his fasting after that. I am grateful to my PS friends, who have extended their support and views for this unique incident of India, the first of its kind after the independence where the whole country came on a platform to support Anna Hazare the old man who has shown courage like Gandhi. This actually is the real result of internet and social networking sites like face book and twitter etc. continue in 2nd. Ravindra

The Government of India is trying to force few things, which are not acceptable to Anna Hazare and his followers. Anna do not want a toothless committee to keep check on corrupt politicians and bureaucrats. Fresh round of talk will take place after 8 pm IST today. He is still on fasting for the last 74 hours nearly. Updated at 6.01 PM IST. Ravindra

Very intriguing, Ravindra-- thank you for letting us know about this-- I wish him the best in his endeavours-- I think all around the world, there is just too much turmoil & corruption-- it's such a daunting task to curb it--so I sure hope that whatever step one can do to help stop it will help, hopefully...it may not be one big change right away but little by little it does hopefully make a difference...

Thanks Andrea. You are very right that there are many things we want to change but the threads of corruption are so strong that we often fail to do so. I know it is not easy to remove these things, which now exists in the blood stream of our society but the things, which are happening all around the world especially in Asia, in Africa, in Middle East are indication of a new wave of support of the people to eradicate such evils. Like you I also pray and wish that things will improve. I somehow see a great hope form the steps of Anna's fasting as lots and lots of people from different part of our country have started supporting his cause of introducing the Lokpal bill to check the higher ups in politics. Ravindra, how do you think he will be able to influence the rest of the world? I have been having horrible feelings lately about the world. I have been feeling like the end is very near and I know that we all need a wake up call. There are some "elite few" who are controlling many of the bad things affecting us all these past several decades. Corruption is rampant and it's really hurting my heart. I pray someone out there can truly influence our world for the better!
