Notes About The Poem

Ode To Autumn

Ode to Autumn

Earth’s sphere of fire bids adieu to me
As dying embers gleam across the sea
In rare hues reflected by autumn trees,
Swirling in motion with October’s breeze.

I feel the joy this season has to share
In golden harvest that the branches bear,
And I am thankful for this blessed year,
For divine abundance I share so dear.

The sun and moon take on a special glow
As thunder clouds move swiftly with the flow.
Yes, autumn coaxes feelings to revive,
Those mem’ries of past seasons still alive.

When autumn spreads her dress of lacey frost
I know, in breathless beauty, I’ll be lost.

I love the picturesque beauty of "Swirling in motion with October’s breeze." The sphere of fire bidding adieu paints the end of summer so poetically. Your ode to Autumn is a delight to the senses, Connie!

...I will happily read this in any season Connie:) You write of Nature as if you are 'one' and it is beautiful. We have cherry blossom trees in bloom along side fall coloured leaves stubborn to give way...so it is fitting your poem is on the feature page for me to discover:) I love your words on nature and the elements... they give wonderful moments of solace that I greatly appreciate. thank you. sending smiles your way:) lynnxxx

Autumn is my favorite season. All the things you mention can be sensed--more than seen, heard, felt--by just sitting quietly and feeling the world slowly going to sleep all around. Magical isn't it? I loved reading this.
