Before the Technology Took-Over

BEFORE THE TECHNOLOGY TOOK OVER. How beautiful were those days When tech had not touched us To spoil our minds and hearts When life was simple and plain And ambitions too were not very rosy. When poetry music and art Use to inspire us to touch the sky On the wings of our imagination As then our dreams too were simple And love use to empower our hearts To swim across any deep ocean While singing the songs of love. When television had not snatched Our leisure hours from everyone of us And we use to dance and sing On the call of heart touching tunes. When mobiles had not spoiled our minds While snatching from us, Our peace of mind When computers were a remote cry And internet had not ruined the purity of minds. When as children we use to enjoy the life While playing the Gend Tadi* (throw balls) Or even the Gilli Danda* As they all use to fill us with a serene joy Which the new technology has snatched From our kids and younger generations. How beautiful were those days When we use to enjoy the company Of human minds and hearts Unlike the numerous appliances Which we keep close to our hearts instead of love, music and friendship. The new generation would never know The beauty of those precious joyous moments Which used to embrace our hearts And were the result of love and affection Which always come from non tech things. Ravindra K Kapoor Kanpir India 29th Oct. 2016 Inspired poem from a Photo published by Julia Ward on face book. * Indian village simple games which are played with the help of a rubber ball and two wooden made Gilli two side conical small rod and Danda ( a little bigger rod).

Ravindra I feel being a baby boomer, I have had the best of both worlds. I love TV, but growing up , we did so many fun things as groups and as family. So I have been able to enjoy both technology and REAL communication. Nothing like the good old days as this poem implies.

Thanks Andrea 4 your kind words. Both you & me are really very fortunate we have experienced the beauty of those golden days when technology had occupied the major parts of our hearts & simple things use to fill us with the joys of life. But when we see the majority of today’s youth we find them too busy to care for human values. May be we are old now and this is called the generation gap. L&BW

Of course technology brings us both good and bad, is merely a tool, any tool has to be used appropriately! However I love this poem, is a point I often make, and this video I think sums it up! hope you like it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VASywEuqFd8

You are absolutely right dear friend Arthur. Thank you so much for liking the poem. I have watched your beautiful video and have found very interestingly that it too conveys very affectively what I was trying to find in my poem missing in our life because of new technology. More on your page soon ...WBW

Thank you so much dear friend Tim for your kind appreciation and liking the Poem. You are very right the world has become dehumanized. We know that without technology even having the pleasure of seeing your precious words would not have occurred but with every new technology we have lost some or the other God gifted qualities. More on your page soon. WBW
